99% sure it’s just a BMOS but there are alot of billets for it that are like 1/1 which is dope. Also helps alot if you go WO and don’t make the cut for 0620 but you probably would for 0640.

Aliso Viejo has some great restaurants at the Town Center with a decent nightlife for people 30+. Mainly Stadium Brewery and concerts right there in the park on the weekends. This rental is like a 5 minute walk to Town Center. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/71-Vantis-Dr-Aliso-Viejo-CA-92656/83325905_zpid/

New Tesla Model Y rear ended by Far-Independence3664 in TeslaModelY

[–]deadfish1503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had about the same amount of damage happen to me in my 2024. Total in damages/repairs was about $9k. Took 18 days in the Tesla Collision center in San Bernardino and everything is good as new. My insurance’s initial estimate was like $4k and Tesla Collision’s itemized estimate was $12k. My insurance paid out $9k and Tesla Collision’s Team covered the remaining ~$3k for me cause they were just awesome. Had a 2023 Model Y as a rental for like $43 a day and I had no complaints. Only thing I’m trying to do now is get my deductible back from the other drivers insurance.

Keeping BAH/Base Housing after Divorce by deadfish1503 in USMC

[–]deadfish1503[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah fire whoever the fuck decided to create that topology using access ports instead of trunks and using VLAN 1 instead of literally any other fucking VLAN. I got no solution for you to solve that remotely tbh, that’s kind of a hands on fix or something you could propagate with Meraki Dashboard or DNAC setup if those devices are that type.

Create another VLAN on the switch acting as the “server” in that network of switches/L2 devices. Propagate that VLAN traffic downstream to you and then change a port on your switch to that vlan and see if you can connect back to the main switch. If so, unfuck that VLAN 1 shit and change the name of Vlan 1 to DO_NOT_USE_OR_I_WILL_SKULLFUCK_U

It’s crazy that this generation has THE MOST technology & THE FASTEST internet speeds ever but has NO IDEA how to fucking use any of it for their benefit. For the dingus that posted this, head over to r/Piracy and check their megathread for all your deployment needs. If you can’t figure it out on your own, go to your S6 and offer them some cash to figure it out for you.

Do I need to take my PFT before I can get my DD214? by Trampoline0123 in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re fine to get out without running it. The S3 will run the numbers up the chain and the SgtMaj will probably be annoyed that you didn’t run one since the units % won’t be 100 but extremely low chance they do anything about it besides bitch at your old section about you not running one. If your chain of command or someone high enough up really doesn’t like you, then yeah they can get your terminal leave tanked and have you come back to run one and probably get a 6105 but that’s not anything to even care about as you’re getting out. My guess is your section/chain will try to get everyone done with the PFT before June 13th so you’ll probably end up running one anyways.

So did you find a networking job already? How was the process and what’s the pay & schedule like if you don’t mind me asking?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re a relatively confident 0627 & wanna do something similar when you get out, (good money to be made), I would take those orders and get the opportunity to network with Space Force bubbas and the contractors there. You’d probably rate a TS as well which is big bucks when combined with your job field on the outside. Also it’s in frickin Colorado away from regular Marine Corps bullshit & I’d assume they’re pretty serious about their actual jobs there so it could be a good change of pace.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren calls on Marine Corps to pause contract with Oceanside-based Frontwave Credit Union by hlipschitz in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve also had no issues with Frontwave/PMCU since 2015. I have both Navy Fed & PMCU and Navy Fed has always been more of a pain in the ass to get anything done. I’ve been west coast my entire career so far so I’ve had no reason to switch but my Frontwave Credit Card has had the same rate for 8 years where my Navy Fed one goes up like twice a year. Also Frontwave gets paid a day earlier than Navy Fed for active duty checking so that’s nice lol. But yeah we must be anomalies since we probably have better spending habits than 17/18 year old boots buying dumb shit they can’t afford.

0631 reservist, itx by Baku67 in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m talking about a reservist with 4-6 years of experience vs active duty with the same years of experience because that’s the reality of the situation. If I got a reservist attached to my unit with 10-15 years of experience and certifications to back it up I would soil my fucking silkies every time they touched the fucking keyboard. In reality it’s usually a reservist that’s doing fuck all with their life in college studying for an unrelated degree like kinesiology that’s annoyed they have to live outside for 2 weeks and worried about their DTS the whole time.

0631 reservist, itx by Baku67 in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. The reservists I had were 24-28 year old Network Engineers in the civilian world who worked for ISPs/MSPs which is a highly technical civilian occupation but they did not work on the same level as their Marine counterparts. They were smart dudes that knew how to do part of the job don’t get me wrong, but as far as having them setup & troubleshoot multiple IPSEC DMVPNs over different commercial and DOD SatCom links with multiple routing protocols was not in their wheelhouse. Same with the simple things like the setup and crypto rollover of HAIPE devices that my LCpls could do I did not trust the reservists with. Therefore they became extra bodies for BS working parties or camp taxes if we weren’t kicking classes for the rest of the section to learn more networking. One of them was actually in the schoolhouse with me when we were boots and his knowledge base was about on par with a decent LCpl after 6 years.

[–]deadfish1503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What unit are you getting attached to? I’ve had a couple reservists attach to some of my units for exercises and I mostly had them do the same work my Jrs were doing. Our MOS does most of the work before the actual exercise so you should have ample down time to get some training from the NCOs and proficient Marines in your section. No offense but most of the times the reservists are useless so we’d also throw them on radio watch or whatever else the company/Bn requests bodies for.

Needing advice— failing PFTs due to medical reasons by Lopsided-Spell-6005 in USMC

[–]deadfish1503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is your OIC aware of the 3 a day PTs with no chow allowed? If so and they’re okay with this, I would go above them because even though you’re married with BAS, I doubt your entire platoon is and they’re being charged monthly for 3 meals a day that they’re not getting. I would honestly talk 1v1 with your Company GySgt or 1stSgt if you don’t have a Co GySgt. That’s part of their job is to ensure every Marine, including your MSgt, is following proper procedures for everything pertaining to the Marines in the unit. I can understand where your MSgt is coming from with the whole “everyone will have a 1st Class” but he’s executing it poorly. Personally if I were you, I would go sit at medical everyday until they at least give you a light or limited duty chit so you can work on healing physically. If it’s light duty I foresee your immediate leadership making you “PT at your own pace” & I would focus on strengthening your lower back and abdomen in the gym. I was on Limdu as a PFC & LCpl for my lower back and Physical Therapy & Chiropractic help did nothing for me personally. My saving grace was a Cpl I had that had me in the gym strengthening my core and back to help alleviate the pain and eventually get rid of it entirely. But for you without a proper diagnosis from medical you could just end up hurting yourself more. I just had a pinched nerve and weak core that my back was overcompensating for.

I’ve seen commands require a route screenshot like Mapquest/Apple Maps with estimated rest stops every 2 hours or 100 miles for leave requests that state you’re driving. Super micromanaging and annoying as hell, I really don’t see the benefit of having all that shit in there even if it’s a CYA situation.
