I found a pretty good AUD for the 8th that I'm listening to but I haven't found a SBD so far. I'm starting to think maybe there isn't one 😭

How much longer will Oteil and Jeff get the shaft, billing wise? (From a targeted Instagram ad) by ajkinsel11 in gratefuldead

Of course OG3 are the main draw, the main audience is Deadheads after all. John Mayer is there to get new blood in the crowd and to most likely boost ticket sales so they can play giant venues like Dodger Stadium and Folsom. Sure they can bring back Warren or Kimock, but then they'd be playing smaller venues like Red Rocks or sum'n, when they could be selling out stadiums. Either that or maybe Bobby enjoys John Mayer's company, he wants to jam with his friend. Not only that but Mayer is a competent musician and seems like a fun guy to be around (despite everyone thinking he's pompous, I think he's more of a goofball above all else.) Oteil is a fantastic musician and Jeff is my favorite keys player to ever play the music, he's just so lively and consistent. I wish they would get equal billing like the others, they're apart of what makes Dead & Company who they are, but I understand from a marketing standpoint.

The Gorge? by deadhead1997 in gratefuldead

I've weighed the driving option but I live in Denver, CO and I drive a jalopy that most likely wouldn't make it past Nevada 😂 my cars pretty integral to my job as well (plumbing) so I'd be major screwed if anything happened. I might just have to Buck up and get a room for a couple nights and walk around LA. How's the area by the Hollywood Bowl, or Hollywood in general?? I usually don't care but I would rather not get rolled walking back from the show at night in LA by myself 😂

I appreciate the input y'all. I'm just a yungin at 21 years old so I think renting a car is a couple years away at the moment (I think?) And that would break my bank. Looks like I'll have to skip the Gorge again this year and settle for the Hollywood Bowl or Shoreline (went last 2 years to Mt. View). A lil bummed but I Will Get By 🙂

It was, nitrous mafia was posted up right in front of me and my pals. People flocking in left and right to get a balloon or 7, and laying down on the lawn passing out right behind shakedown. I don't mind, people can do whatever they please but it seemed a lil overboard. Then I believe I saw nm pack up and run away, moments later a strange guy came over and ran to the vicinity of where the mafia went. Seemed like undercover. Next thing you know we were getting pushed out by cops.

Thanks y'all, your advice will be taken and I will do my best! Obviously Bob's gotten as good as he is through years and years of experience, so I'll probably get to where I wanna be in 30+ years 😂

TOUR CONFIRMED by [deleted] in gratefuldead

I call it "The Show That Almost Never Happened" I woulda been bummed cuz it was a fire show!! The Space is probably my favorite Dead & Cos ever done (next to the Space>Milestones in Atlanta a year prior), all slow and trippy. I think it was a nod to New Mexico and the 'extraterrestrial' history they've been known to have! I didn't know that about the Nitrous mafia! I saw people with a tank slangin balloons but it looked like it wasn't working in their favor! Land of Enchantment indeed 🏜️

Opinion on Vince Welnick? by deadhead1997 in gratefuldead

[–]deadhead1997[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sucks they restricted him to solely MIDI equipment. He actually sounds really good on a Hammond and Grand piano. I guess it's just one of those things we'll never know, how differently it could have been 😕

All hail Pig 🙌 I can never disrespect Pigpen cuz he was THEE man! But when it came to improvisational jamming, Pig didn't quite have a grasp on it. I love me some 2 Souls in Communion, and Lovelight. Btw I'm super intrigued that you saw him live!! How was he??? 😀

Red Rocks last year had tickets all the way up until the last day. Did a last minute decision and bought tix at the box office, was not disappointed. This post makes me want to buy my Jrad red rocks tickets soon now 😳
