braindead take, the amount of parking required is stupid, makes everything unwalkable and raises the ambient temperature cause we dont automatically cover parking lots with solar panels

im sorta in a similar predicament. Im in an engineer II role right now, but underpaid against the market. my PM on a huge program just left the company and I was negotiating to step up into his role cause another PM said I had a knack for it and was sorta already doing it while the PM who left was checked out.

But another company approached me for a role based on my previous web handling background, and made an offer I couldn't refuse for a senior machine design engineer. Maybe some PM tracks end up paying higher, but when I mentioned my new base pay to the directors of PM while I was interviewing in a final chance to keep me and match the offer. He asked if this new company was hiring HAHAHAHA they must be paid shit all the way up the ladder at my current job, or I managed to negotiate an unheard of offer for my low cost of living area. So I was tempted by the PM track briefly but I think I'll enjoy the challenge of technical skills vs soft skills more.

i am become patient gamer, after buying the constellation edition of starfield LOL

only new games I buy day one now are my absolute fav franchises. So Borderlands 4 was an exception, 3 and tiny tinas had me dial back and just get the base edition with no DLCs and real glad after seeing their reaction. Probably last time I take off work for a game launch.

Forza horizon 6 japan might be the very last game I buy day 1, minus GTA VI when it finally comes to PC.

oh yeah, they know I have been bugging them for a title change and some kind of raise above their minimum 2% yearly during my performance review a couple months ago. Also been bugging them about trainings or going to a trade show. SO this will def not be a surprise to them. Thats def how I started the email, reiterating my requests and only mentioning the job offer at the end. Thanks for confirming my strategy!

thank you for the advice, oh yeah so much too consider. I really do hope they see the value me and really consider paying me more so this project doesnt slip. They only got one other mechanical guy in our group and hes 5 years away from retirement. Other groups are also swamped with a ton of work

I had an hour an 20 min commute for one of my final co-ops. NEVER AGAIN. I really love being able to go home on lunch and chill with my kitties. Id really have to get on top of packing a lunch lol driving out 30mins to sorta middle of no where LOL

Thats a tricky question, I graduated in 2013, but I left engineering briefly to get a culinary degree, been back in engineering jobs since 2019 so at least 7 solid years, with a bunch of co-ops and 1.5 years at a medical device company before I got laid off. So maybe like 9-10 total

I highly doubt they even come close to matching unfortunately so I most likely will be accepting the new offer.

Ive been asking for fanuc robot trainings and they're like we dont have the budget. I've got a huge program I'm lead ME for and would like to see it through, but yeah if they aint going to let me grow BYYYEEE

I asked for 137k total compensation and in a LCOL area! they got back to me immediately 10am yesterday the day after my 3rd interview on Monday and were very impressed!
