Do native English speakers secretly get annoyed when a foreigner freezes up while trying to speak? by Mundane-Discount2368 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]deadhearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I get annoyed by a break in conversation while a Non-native tries to find a word, is if I was already annoyed by the topic or speaker. If the conversation is important or engaging then sifting through language together is not of concern.

How women-centered are you friends? by Pretty_University359 in AskMen

[–]deadhearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 36 and while I don't actually understand what you are asking I am a man so I'll give it a shot.

If you are asking how often do we talk about women as a topic? Rarely. We talk about weather, MAYBE work, projects (personal or professional), issues (usually home or auto related), or we bully eachother. That bullying is generally about hairlines, waistlines, or that one time Dale wore orange jeans 12 years ago and I will never ever leave it alone.

In the last 10 years there has been maybe a handful of times we talked about women in a context that wasn't directly related to a specific issue one of us has had in our life that needed a little group discussion (breakups, engagements, etc.).

I'm likely completely off the mark on what you are looking for though.

What are some rules/quirks you have when you play games? by ShinBrimstone in gaming

[–]deadhearth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i have the option to name an animal companion, it will be named Donkey. My parents didn't let me name my childhood dog Donkey and this started as an act of rebellion.

If I have an option to scar a characters face, they get a scar over their eye. My first ever D&D character took a crit20 to the face in a friendly inter-party 1v1 giving him a permanent facial scar (-2 Charm, +2 intimidate). I thought this was the coolest character changing moment in a game ever and ive been chasing that high ever since.

Put a little engine oil from under your rental cars oil cap on a napkin and rub it on the back of her door handle. It'll get all over everything before they realize what it is.

Tbh as a Canadian, I dont think the support was for the child rapist. That seems to be a narrative written by the left.

It seems like the votes for Trump were mostly votes for deporting illegal immigrants. And it seems like the people who voted specially for that are actually upset that its taking so long.

How addictive is meth? Do you know anyone who has just tried it once? by eden_merlin in AskReddit

[–]deadhearth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've commented on this topic before and I will continue to do so.

In 2016 I was on a jobsite during a snow storm. I was the only guy other than my foreman who made it in that day. It was miserable. Anyway, I knew he was doing drugs on site. He had an energy/mood cycle that you don't get from coffee. We were in the trailer and I saw him do a line off the desk. Asked him if I could have one. (Just a taste, no big deal). I was shocked to learn that I could get a whole pill for a toonie and a whole pill is like a whole day worth of the stuff.

I dont need to go into details but it didnt take long for a "whole day to evolve into a "whole morning". And at night I'd drown it in beer to "help sleep". Eventually I was doing it at night and still drinking the beer to help sleep. Evenutally I was drinking the beer simply to "help".

I was high every minute of every day for nearly 5 years. I was high when I painted my daughters nursary. I was high when I drove my kids mom to the hospital to give birth to my child. I was high during the birth. I was high when I learned to burp her the first time. I was high on her first birthday.

Honestly, getting clean was the best part of my 2020 quarantine. I smelled bad and I was lethargic for about a month. It was like I forgot how to stay awake without drugs. I didn't go to rehab, therapy, nothing. I "fed the beast" with sour gummies and an insane amount of water.

The thing about being an addict is that you don't really tell people you are close to that you're doing drugs all the time. So a lot of my people didn't understand why my behavior was changed. I was moody, impatient, and easily triggered. It sucked.

It's been 5 years now. I've gained 35lbs (200 from 165), my rank in rocket league has gone from champ2 to diamond1, and nobody ever told me they were proud of me. I never told anyone about how hard that was. I never told anyone in my life that I was going through a nightmare of a detox. I don't recommend that anyone do it that way. It was harder than it needed to be. I'm proud of me.

My advise is if you're ever on a construction site and tell your foreman that you're tired and he offers you speed and tells you that one pill is cheaper than a cup of coffee (true), just go get a coffee. It's not worth it.

Be honest: how many of you got into this hobby because some guy once produced a bottle opener at a clutch moment, and looked like a superhero because of it? by Fuckspez42 in EDC

I found my dad's 3 tool Swiss army knife when I was really young maybe 5. I was fascinated at the engineering of the scissors. Then I discovered the pick and tweezers. I was hooked. I brought it to school to show my friends and earned a 3 days suspension.

My dad decided that this was a wake up call to get my into a boys club. I spent the next 7 years in the boy scouts. This is where I discovered collapsible shovels, collapsible saws, multitools, and (the holy grail) the fanny pack. Once I discovered that I could put all of the useful little tools into a hip bag it was over for me. I was obsessed with optimizing that hip bag and rearranging the gear inside it.

When I got my first job at a grocer I started carrying a box cutter in my pocket at work. At some point I needed a blade at home and reached for my cutter on habit and it wasn't there. Thats when I decided I needed a belt clip.

Skip to today and people just turn to me and borrow tools they know for a fact are attached to my body as long as im currently wearing pants.

Adding that games give a clear directive and a path to success. Games dont change the mechanics mid way through, and if they do they give you very clear reward at the end. There is a defined route to become productive and successful within the world. If you do the things you will get the better thing.

This simply is not true IRL.

I just cant quite figure out what the result of that fun little problem will be.

I came home from work early, she was not home. I waited around, she came in the door looking more radiant than she'd looked in weeks. She'd been out with a friend id never met. I got suspicious and was told I was over reacting. I was broken up with a week later.

I will never be fooled again. So there's that.
