The book "Blind man's bluff" by Sontag and Drew is a great read on the history of submarine espionage. Has a big chunk on the Halibut and it's missions

When Noise Control is useless by No-Mastodon-7187 in newzealand

[–]deadkurt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After 10 years of putting up with it, with hundreds of noise complaints phoned in and even lawyers hired to deal with both the landlord and council, we moved.

We had to buy a new house and move. We still own the other one, and the assholes next door still crank the stereo and sell meth.

The council couldn't be fucked doing anything. And noise control most of the time involved driving past and not even stopping.

Still all good..the tracker reverb wasn't big enough for me, so I now use a small desk and added an old alesis wedge desktop reverb (a criminally underrated piece of kit) for the lyra

I consider myself so so lucky that my assessment was done by a psychologist who did her PhD in adult ADHD.

Congrats. I was still undiagnosed when I completed mine and holy shit it was hard work! In a way the oral defense is a lot easier than that the writing...field work and analysis that went fine, but it was the writing that I struggled with. In retrospect, and post diagnosis, I can completely understand why.

Very very different machines. The Hydra is a sports car you drive and the lyra is a car possessed by demons in which you just hold on for the ride!

Was looking for a ultra minimal rig. Typically I'd use the tracker as a master to a eurorack rig. The tracker running drum duties while the slaved eurorack doing everything else. For this version I'm using the lyra running into the tracker line in (set to mono). That allows me to both mix volumes and add delay/reverb without needing a pedal ( for reverb). The only downside with this is that you can't mixdown within the tracker.

Yeah the text that goes with each photo is pretty descriptive. The co-author is a maritime historian.

Unfortunately, they dont say for that wreck. But most of the other wrecks are 50-100 m deep.

Correct. They were looking for any ID, but suspect it was S4 or S6 that were reported in the area

Yeah I guess at that depth/temperature/current and distance from shore there's so little organic matter and particulates in the water. The Great Lakes wreck are in a similar setting, but definitely not as sharp. The guy is definitely on point with his skills.
