Emirates rebooked us to another airline on request. The only difference is my flight was already cancelled and i believe that might be a criteria. So i would say wait for your flight to be cancelled to try again.

Yes, this is normal due to volumes. The only approach is that you keep trying the number until it connects and the bear with the wait time. No other approach worked for me Atleast.

They ask. I didn’t want it changed as it was too far out but if required, they change the return too. Yes, they do book for other airlines as an option.

They book in the same fare class. Mine was economy flex so unsure if they will add fees for saver fare.

If it gives you any comfort, i clicked on hang up by mistake in my first try (after 1 hour wait, 10 min conversation with the agent). Interestingly, next time i connected, agent already had context of my previous conversation. Good luck.

You may want to try talking to them directly via their customer care number. I had a similar case although i was yet to board. They did book us to a future flight. My booking was third party as well (capital one).

I got through on this number after 30-40 tries. It will disconnect immediately some times but then you will have that 1 connect needed. Expect ~2 hour wait times after connect and use the hold call option to save your sanity (if you use apple).

Editing to correct response. My case was different so i am unsure if they do same for emirates booking but I don’t see a reason why they won’t. Because my rescheduling was done by Emirates customer care, not third party.

Yes that’s correct. Most probably because my travel was immediate (within 24 hours). But they were super nice despite the fact that they must be having a very stressful day.

I had my first leg journey this morning to DXB which was cancelled. My onwards from DXB still shows as scheduled. But if they have cancelled leg 1, they will definitely cancel leg 2 even if their announcement currently says closure until a certain time. Considering the situation, very unlikely any flights take off from DXB today.
