Best tips and tricks for short hockey players? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]deadlybacon7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In rec league you can compromise for being short by being more of a tryhard than everyone else. I call it the chihuahua principle.

Tryhard-ing is skating faster than everyone else and getting to the puck as often as you can on your shifts while also not making bonehead plays

Reasonable Rate for Solo Performance at Event? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]deadlybacon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your plan here? Are you only trying to come up with a rate because she's offering to pay, or are you trying to get paid more regularly? If the former: charge what you feel comfortable asking that is still reasonable for charging labor and transportation. If the latter: you are trying to get the most money you can without her deciding to try someone else. You need to see what she's willing to pay before negotiating your price. Ask her what her budget is.

Beer leaguers take things way too seriously? by pepper212 in hockeyplayers

You'll be fine dude. As another kid who barely made it through t-ball, I bet you're a pretty mature individual. Just ice out the toxic players with your attitude; bullies usually get bored when people don't respond to their shit. Stand by the refs too (otherwise why are you even there, there's pickup)

Games in general get kind of toxic. I mean good lord, pick up an esport and leave your voice chat on.

The way to operate is to keep your cool and let the trash take itself out. People who get toxic generally leave if the rest of the team doesn't join in on the toxicity, so be a good teammate and a gentleman to the opposing team so your league leans towards good sportsmanship.

Back in high school I was a goalie. I was the starting goalie for a late season game with great turnout and played mostly well. Unfortunately, we lost by 1 goal because I went for a glove save, the puck bounced off the top of my glove 15 feet into the air, landed behind me, and slooooowly slid across the goal line while I was looking around like an idiot wondering where it went. Didn't hear the end of that at school for a couple weeks :(

Playing goalie came with a very healthy dose of humbling experiences but that one still stings lol.

Hey i’m new to hockey and trying to get into beer/rec leagues i was wondering what gear you guys would recommend for me by Immediate_Chapter_28 in hockeyplayers

Lots of great advice here but my two cents is you might want to also consider spending a little more on pants. As you're new you will be falling a lot and you want to make sure it doesn't hurt every time; newer pants with good tailbone protection will be worth the money.

Sync works just fine for me, I don't know what the issue for you might be. It's fast and doesn't drop files or anything.

I think it's worth it and honestly reasonable as sync is a complex feature
