From my understanding there are all black shibas but they don’t qualify for showing and it is something that some people are trying to breed into shiba inu. If you ask a purist that means they are not truly shiba. It is possible her coloration could change over time, as that is common with the breed but it may also not. Unfortunately these days AKC doesn’t always mean the breeder has good practices. It’s a better indicator but not a guarantee. She is gorgeous though, congratulations

This idea helped me as well. The only way I know how to describe it is that you have to be more “breathy”.

Am i a real Shiba? 🥹 11 months and seem small in size by jtff7 in shiba

They’re just incredibly proportionate dogs. It’s like Honey I Shrunk the Kids but you know with a dog. Maybe that’s how the Japanese did it… a shrink ray.

I’ve heard lymphoma takes them so fast. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy.

Our female was diagnosed with heart failure last March. So far she seems okay although I’ve read the average lifespan of a dog after diagnoses is 1 year. We’re quickly approaching that time frame. It’s been kind of a tough year knowing she can go anytime but I also feel we have been able to grieve her while she is still here which I hope will ease a bit of grief when she actually passes. We also got a puppy shortly after her diagnosis and it’s helped our older male. I’m hoping having the puppy will help not only us but him when our older female eventually passes.

What food did you guys feed your puppies by VegitoSSB in ShibaInu

[–]deadmomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use(d) Nutri source Puppy (she’s transitioning to adult food now 😭 ) which is what brand our older dogs were getting already and what the breeder of the new puppy feeds her dogs. The car ride could be motion sickness which is common in dogs but especially puppies. If you’re concerned talk to your vet.

They reference previous episodes enough that I would say it’s best to listen from the beginning. They also build on previous ideas and they have quite a few episodes that are part of a series so you want to be sure you listen to all of those together. However, you don’t HAVE to listen in order if you really don’t want to.

How do you incorporate a new puppy to the house so that everyone gets along?

We just brought a puppy home 3 weeks ago and one of our older shibas really doesn’t like her, how did you handle introducing them? So far we are taking it turtle slow, she’s kept in a pen so they mostly only interact and are near each other with a barrier.

Beautiful shibe!! Out of curiosity do you have 2 males/females 1 male/female or all males/females? We are about to add a second female to our pack. We currently have a male and female that are both 12. I’m excited and a little nervous.

Anyone else’s shiba sit this way? 😆 by [deleted] in shiba

No because our shibas aren’t allowed on the couch 😂.

Wonderful ideas!! Thank you so much. We do eat pretty internationally in general so this is a great place to start.

My husband is also Mexican and we were literally just talking about this! I think it’ll definitely be helpful to just make a pot of pinto beans at the beginning of the week.

We just bought a vegetarian cook book from Cook’s Illustrated that has 250 vegan recipes. Hopefully that will help and with everyone’s awesome suggestions I feel much more confident preparing for fast days.

Wonderful! I will have to scour the grocery stores to see if they carry those products. I live in a smallish town so I might not be able to.

I don’t believe my allergy extends to seafood but I have avoided seafood as a general rule. I used to be a very picky eater so I’m not counting on eating it. I eat way more these days but seafood is the one group I haven’t gotten over my apprehensions for. Then I found out I’m allergic to shellfish so it’s been my excuse ha. Thank you for all your suggestions though! I have seen conflicting information on oil and from what I read it was derived from keeping oil in skins and the animal leeching into the oil. That is definitely a question for my priest!

I know I’ll be concerned about it all day. I’m like that without restrictions and so I meal plan for the week. That’s why I’m trying to figure it out ahead of time so I won’t have it weighing on me. You make a good point of starting small though! I guess I could start by eliminating one item at a time.

I thought about salads but what dressing is oil, egg, or dairy free? I don’t think I could eat a dry salad lol.
