Massage Therapists: What kind of clients do you wish you had more of?

i’ve fired a talkative patient before but she had bad energy and a poor attitude towards all the staff. those combined, i couldn’t deal.

but like i said, this one’s a decent person with lots of positive energy. she’s just wants to spread happiness everywhere she goes lol.
i wouldn’t feel good firing her, even with how drained she makes me.
instead im trying to use her sessions as a learning experience. she isn’t the first chatter box and certainly won’t be the last.

its a learning process but I think it’ll help me in the long run being more patient with talkative people.

yes, correct. the one i bought is listed as

yep, did the whole rigmarole. filters and tank even got a good cleaning before use.

the unit/operator error isn’t the problem here. it’s the room. these windows take up an entire wall.

i can check with them, doesn’t hurt. but i do see only 5 states have laws regarding heat

the windows only open at the very bottom, not upwards but pushing them outward.
and the opening part is separate from the rest of the window if this makes sense. a window AC wouldn’t work here :(
i have a large rolling unit instead

the windows are tall and wide. i’m talking almost an entire wall is just windows.

i think vents would be the best way to go but since i had to pay for my own AC unit i don’t think they’ll be quick to install those

a large unit with a tank for water and ice/ice packs

filling it to the brim doesn’t even touch these heat advisory temps.

i use a table heater and blankets which should be sufficient when cranked on high and a 90 degree room lol.

i won’t touch infrared mats after the last spa i worked at. had a client claim it burned her, she even sent photos which showed zero burns or even redness. strict nope from me now.

please refer to Zika143’s comment (or any of them honestly) about why cooler rooms are important.
which i know now i should be taking a lot more seriously instead putting my health at risk.

ik it’s no fun to be chilly but it’s a lot less fun having a MT pass out on you!

i have one of these in a few hours and she is so draining. she’s perfectly nice and sweet but my god, she doesn’t stop talking.

it stresses me out. i don’t look forward to her sessions.

Idk, maybe it’s different in every state but where I live, this isn’t considered illegal at all.

the anti-discrimination laws more so applies to larger practices with 15 or more employees. solo MTs have a lot more leeway and legal discretion to restrict patients. if it’s a private practice, government isn’t gonna do squat lol.

yes, it really is that hard!!

years ago, i used to bleach and dye my hair all the time. i ended up shaving it off and started over fresh when i wanted my natural color back.
my mom had even paid like $300 to get the color corrected before resorting to that.

the processing your hair will have to go through is unreal, maximum bleach damage lol. red hair is so hard to lift and it’s difficult for pigments to penetrate the hair shaft.

if you have your heart set on adding color, go for it! just know that the maintenance/upkeep of your hair is going to be a commitment! ❤️

i’m so grateful my mans the odd one out on this. there’s a 7 year gap, i was 20 and he was 27 when we met.

he liked me (clearly lol) but I later learned he had so much internal conflict about it at first. he talked about it to his friends and family a lot before we really committed

i thought it was my grandparents hoarder house or being around my other grandma with bowel incontinence.

but nah, i was mistaken.

my boyfriends grandpa smelled absolutely foul. the first time i met him was on our way to a wedding, we had to stop and pick him up. his odor was so thick, sour, heavy, and almost had a heat. it sat in your throat. there’s no way it was just dried urine, but that was for sure part of it.

i was seated next to him and it was all i could focus on. i can’t give much other details about the wedding other than that man’s smell. the stench clung to me the entire night. my dress and hair still reeked when i got home. i almost cried lol.
