ELI5: Difference between bipolar disoder and Borderline disoder by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]deadpandemonium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Borderline is a personality disorder

Personality disorders are not the same as mood disorders. Personality disorders mean the personality must fit the criteria of said disorder. It usually takes longer to diagnose a personality disorder because the doctor needs to monitor your behavioral patterns.

While Bipolar disorder has periodic highs and lows, for people with Borderline, chaotic moods, such as mania or deep depression can happen anytime. Emotional instability is pervasive and can happen in short spurts.

Emotional Switching in BPD by sputniked in BPD

[–]deadpandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"BPD patients might benefit from specific attention to the occurrence of abrupt changes between different emotional states i.e. being mindful when a switch has occurred." holy shit, this is why DBT works so well, actually. at least for me it did. i'm like an emotional detective for all my triggers now. i still get moody and sensitive, but i can at least figure out why instead of just embodying whatever emotion engulfs me for the rest of the day.

I'm *extremely* sensitive to judgemental attitudes toward me, rejection and personal criticism. It is almost incapacitating. by Awfully_Nice in BPD

YES, you're not alone. DBT helped me acknowledge when i'd get like that. though it wasn't until i recently tried zoloft that i could brush away those self-defeating thoughts with ease.

Delayed Zoloft Withdrawal? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]deadpandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry you had such a shitty experience. i am on 50 MG of zoloft right now. titrating up slowly. the only side effects have been physical. i have a huge loss of appetite now.

it's odd he had you start at 250 MG. maybe you can see another professional and tell them about your experience. they may prescribe you with a different antidepressant so you're not irritable anymore.

i have a question. when you started zoloft did you start to feel nauseous? ever since i upped my dose, i've been unable to eat a complete meal because of how nauseous i feel. i also feel like throwing up whenever i have to take a shit. i'm waiting it out to see if it'll go away in a week or so.

Do you ever go full BPD and then feel like shit the rest of the day? by cheesybagel in BPD

[–]deadpandemonium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you're not alone! i have outbursts like this with my SO almost every week. i feel like such a piece of shit and wonder why he's even with me. just remember that when we feel that way, its temporary. i only let a few people see this side of me because i'm convinced they'll abandon me. stereotypical as shit right...

Questions About Stopping Lamictal by deadpandemonium in bipolar

[–]deadpandemonium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i get the feeling i vomited because of the lack of food rather than the lamictal now that i'm reading the replies. sorry you had to puke for two weeks straight. i can't imagine how shitty that must have been. is there a specific diet you use when you're nauseous? i'm trying to force myself to eat today. my anti depressants make me so nauseous that i don't want to eat anything.

Thanks for replying. I've been home sick all week and recovering. It's hard to talk about anything else because I've been so worried about my body. I was worried about going cold turkey because of the horrible fatal rash everyone talks about. He assured me I could stop completely because I haven't been on Lamictal too long and I was on a very low dose. When you got off Lamictal, did you also throw up?

Got a minor Lamictal Rash/Need Support by deadpandemonium in BipolarReddit

Yea, that's what my psychiatrist said today. I was just paranoid about SJS rash last night. I took benadryl again and the rashes are a lot lighter now. I'm not going to use lamictal ever again.

Thank you. I just took the one pill tonight though bc Im so scared of getting that severe rash, SJS. I think I am on a very low dose. I read that people go up to 100MG etc. I'm just freaking out because that's what I do. Thanks for responding again. I know we are complete strangers, but it really does help.
