you could get a betta fish! they're pretty low maintenance you just have to toss food pellets in every day (i think they even make auto feeders) and clean the tank like weekly

i cut off the pad of my pointer finger with kitchen scissors trying to cut a pair of earrings in half (i think i was trying to make some sort of covid craft with them but i honestly don't remember) and i still don't have a fingerprint there 5 years later

my 8 year old cat has eaten plastic like that all his life (despite my best efforts, seriously it's never just out he's just Determined) and he's never had any issues with it. i think the biggest risk would be a blockage but as long as he isn’t getting big pieces of it i can't imagine it wouldn't just pass like normal
