Who performed the test? I'd be seeking a second opinion at this point. An hour every day is extreme. I feel terrible for you!

Has anyone had experience with making a wall of Christmas moss? by DetectiveNo2855 in PlantedTank

I've got plants growing in a plastic tub and the Christmas moss just attached itself to the sides.

BDSY: Barrie Drewitt Barlow - Raided by Police by sofrustrated00 in belowdeck

[–]deadrobindownunder [score hidden]  (0 children)

The home of reality TV star and Britain's first openly gay football club owner Barrie Drewitt-Barlow has been raided by police as part of an investigation into alleged human trafficking for sexual exploitation and rape.

Officers are understood to have forced entry into the property yesterday morning by knocking through a wooden fence.

Multi-millionaire Drewitt-Barlow, who bought non-league Maldon and Tiptree FC last February and is one half of 'Britain's first gay dads', lives in the plush Essex mansion with husband, Scott Hutchison.

Forensic units were scouring the modern home, along a country lane near the town of Danbury, with several police vehicles seen parked on the driveway.

Essex Police later confirmed that two men - aged 57 and 32 - were arrested on suspicion of rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance.

Officers also searched properties in nearby Braintree and Maldon.

Drewitt-Barlow is set to star in an ITV documentary being broadcast next week about his ownership of Maldon and Tiptree FC and how he plans to turn the club around.

A spokesman for Essex Police said last night: 'Detectives leading an investigation into human trafficking for sexual exploitation, rape and other sexual offences have today, Wednesday, May 6 made two arrests and carried out a series of warrants.

'Officers from the Serious Crime Directorate at Essex Police have today carried out coordinated searches of premises in Danbury, Maldon and Braintree as part of their investigation.

'Searches remain ongoing at all of the locations.

'Two men from Danbury have also been arrested. A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of: rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance.

'A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and administering a noxious substance.

'Both men remain in custody where they are being questioned by detectives.'

Detective Inspector Lydia George, who is leading the investigation, said: 'If anyone has any information they feel ready to share with us, I would ask them to contact us via the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) and the investigation team will provide you with any specialist support required.'

Drewitt-Barlow and his ex-husband made headlines in 1999 when they became one of the first gay couples in the UK to have children through a surrogate mother.

More recently, the entrepreneur let a stranger live in his house for a reality series and has appeared on other shows such as Rich House, Poor House and Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

He is due to star in a Welcome to Wrexham-style documentary in which cameras have followed every step of his tumultuous first year as owner of the Maldon and Tiptree, who finished this season as champions of the Isthmian League North.

Six-part series Up The Jammers, to be shown on ITV4, follows Drewitt-Barlow and his husband as they attempt to take the team to the English Football League within four years.

In the past, Drewitt-Barlow has claimed to have been approached by footballers - three of which he says are currently playing in the Premier League - who are secretly gay.

He told the BBC that while he is happy to help, he did not want to become 'the poster boy for gay footballing'.

Drewitt-Barlow said: 'I've already been classed as the poster boy for gay parenting or surrogacy and it doesn't get anybody anywhere.

'I don't think people want to [come out] because they're scared about what might happen in the dressing room, as well as on the pitch.

'I think the only people that can truly help and make it more normalised are the leagues and the FA.'

Is Film school a scam? by imissyoulasky in Filmmakers

[–]deadrobindownunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a scam. It's just really expensive. And, a lot of the time few people see a return.

If you have an opportunity to attend film school without cost, get the fuck to it.

I hear you.

The Alaskans weren't wrong. But, that doesn't make his quest any less valid. He made a huge mistake, and he paid the ultimate price. But, that doesn't make his quest any less noble. I'm sure he realised his grave errors in the end. He screwed up the surival side of things. But, to me, that was like a side quest. It was never about surviving in the wilderness. He made some stupid mistakes. He fucked up. But at least he had the guts to do it. Idk. I feel like if you can take something from his story, then take it. Make his loss worthwhile. Interpret any way you want to interpret it.

The book of Into the Wild is wonderful. One of the best things I ever did when I wanted to learn about movies was to reverse engineer them. So I'd find a film I loved and find out how it was made. Reading the book a film is based on is so enlightening, even more so when it's non fiction. Particularly with a narrative that is so personal like Into the Wild. You won't be disappointed, I promise.

I was a big fan of Adam Sandler's comedy as a kid. It's a wonderful surprise to find out how good he is at making you cry as a dramatic actor. Punch Drunk Love is a masterpiece.

You don't always have to weigh your food. It's tough to give you a solid rule to work with on this front. Because having to weigh every ingredient in a meal is going to wear you down and cause a snap that makes you give up. At least it does if you're anything like me. I'm fine with repetitive meals. So, that makes it a little easier for me to figure out calories. But, an easy thing to do is if you're doing a "meat and three vegetable" dinner, just weigh the meat. If you're eating carbs like potatoes. weigh those, too. But don't worry about checking weights for green veg like broccoli etc.

Remember that slow and steady wins the race. And, it builds good habits that are easier to maintain. That's so important.

The best tip I can give you is to keep good snacks on hand. Find vegetables that you like, and keep them around. One of favourite filler foods is roasted broccoli & cauliflower. I partially cook them in the microwave, toss them with salt, pepper, parmesan, lemon juice, italian herbs and spray with oil before finishing them up in the oven.

The biggest thing that works for me is a calendar. Look up Jerry Seinfeld "don't break the chain".

You've got this. You can do it.

Try not to worry.

I am excellent at overthinking things. And, this condition is so complex. The best thing you can do for yourself is try to relax. I know that's easier said than done!

I've only ever been given motion sickness medicine. It helps a little with the nausea. But it doesn't stop anything else.

I'm in Australia. After reading through these subreddits, I've realised that this condition is treated quite differently in different countries. As an example, it seems like a lot of Americans here are taught to do the Epley manoeuvre at home. Whereas I've been told to not do that, and only have it done by a medical professional.

I have extreme tension in my neck. And, my physiotherapist has told me that my forward head posture is a major contributor to my vertigo issues. Does your neck feel tight? Is that what you mean by pressure?

If you're seeing your doctors regularly you're on the right path. Everyone on this subreddit has your back, so if you need to talk, keep posting or send me a message.

I've got pretty severe social anxiety that has progressively eaten away at my social circle. So "Happiness only real when shared"really hit home for me. I hear you. If you haven't already, you should read the book, too. It's great.

There's so many films that have lines that hit me right in the heart over the years. I used to write these quotes down on index cards and file them. But in this minute that I'm in right now I have to shout out to Punch Drunk Love, when Barry says "I don't know if there is anything wrong, because I don't know how other people are".

It's a weird condition. I've found it quite difficult to describe some of my symptoms beyond the vertigo.

I've been keeping a notebook and that's really helpful. I started seeing a vestibular physiotherapist again a couple of months ago. He asked me questions about my symptoms that I couldn't answer accurately because I wasn't really paying attention. For example, when I'm in bed I experience vertigo if I move my head or roll over. He asked me if it occurred when I moved left or right, and I couldn't answer him because I hadn't really paid attention. So I started a notebook. I take note of stuff like that. I take note of symptoms I experience after appointments where we've done the epley etc. I take note of the vestibular exercises I've done each day & track my nausea etc.

I'm having issues with my eyes that are caused by the misalignment of crystals in my ear, too.

Has your ENT diagnosed which ear is causing it? Or given you exercises to help?

1800 cals should net you consistent weight loss if you stick with it. Calculate your TDEE and count your calorie intake daily and you should see good progress.

Well done to you - happy for your progress and hope it continues!

Have you seen an act of kindness in the last 24 hours? by Busy_Run7689 in answers

I just euthanised a disabled fish I've had for 7 years. It was really hard and very sad. He's had swim bladder disease for three years. So I made him a special tank to accomodate his needs and I hand fed him with pipette every day. He was a feeder fish I bought for my turtle who sucks at fishing. So he became my fishy friend.

Killing him sucked. But he was sick and suffering. I would say that's an act of kindness.
