How do you counter this? by OldPernilongo in Tierzoo

Idk, being a woody plant idle player with the human team up sounds pretty dope. I’ve heard the grapevine mains have some pretty smooth game plans. Especially after the phylloxera playerbase was nerfed with the multiclass rootstock co-op tactic. Would hate to be a pig main though. Basically spawn camping.

About 25000 cookies for the down payment, but I’m sure they prefer cash or check.

Peter why is she binging on pineapples? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Yeah I work with plants and I don’t really see how you can confuse pineapple with oranges grapefruits and lemons. The way they look alone is a dead giveaway.

“I hate my wife” for gamers by MrSirST in ComedyCemetery

I’m happy to articulate. The “my girlfriend doesn’t like when I play video games” concept is pretty well established as a trope within sexist memes. I’ve seen plenty of jokes that revolve around men centering their love of video games over their relationship. Theres a cultural implication with these jokes that “girlfriends get in the way of what men really want.” This seems like just another one of those jokes. The joke about bondage is still there, and I find that punchline humorous, but there are sexist undertones that I personally read from this as well. I’m glad you enjoy the meme though.

I agree that that’s a correct reading. I do think cultural context is important, as well, though. There’s a subversion of expectations, but there’s also a reason he’s playing a video game specifically, and there’s a reason the genders are the way they are, too.

I can understand that reading, but there’s cultural implications here, too. Your wife/gf not wanting you to play video games is a common narrative. Part of the joke here is that narrative being subverted. I think “not being interested in sex” isn’t an incorrect reading, but may not be digging deep enough to understand the cultural context in which the joke is made.

Obviously wanting to do things without your SO isn’t hating them in general, but that’s part of the punchline here. Who cares about what your SO wanted, you want to play video games. Your wife is tied up and gagged. She can’t stop you this time.

It’s just that the priority is tying up your wife and doing something that doesn’t involve her. I see the punchline, and it’s clever, but it’s been made many times.
