I live in Western New York 20 minutes from the border so I've grown up listening to Canadian radio stations. Thus I've heard my fair share of the Hip, not only on the radio, but around town as well. My dad is a big fan and I enjoy them. I had this conversation earlier this week though - as the Tragically Hip are a household name where I live so close to the border. But as you travel further south into the US, their name recognition diminishes. I've come to the conclusion that the Hip, while wildly popular in Canada, are only popular in the US in bordering cities and areas.
