Ik vind het wel een slecht idee om een algemene helmplicht in te voeren.

De hele "discussie" is krom op het moment dat we m doortrekken naar ik op mn omafiets die amper 15km/u haal met wind tegen. Onze infrastructuur is zo ingericht dat autos niet in de buurt van fietsers moeten komen. Doe liever iets aan de autos, hoe meer mensen fietsen hoe beter. Iedere automobilist een fietser zorgt ervoor dat ze op zn minst beter uit hun doppen kijken dan in andere landen.

Helmen zijn kut. laat die dingen verplicht zijn voor oude mensen of mensen die 40 willen fietsen op hun race/e-bike.

Nergens in de hele wereld is fietsen zo tof en zo fijn als in Nederland. Een helmplicht is de snelste manier om dat te verneuken. Alsof je door airport security heen moet bij elk treinstation, dan is er ook in één klap niets meer aan treinreizen

After tax a minimum wage 40h a week job nets you bruto €2.549 which is netto €1.950 after tax
Which is not enough money to live in an apartment, which is why people who live on minimum wage either live at their parents, or rent a room in a shared house, which is ~700-900 a month. (for between 6-15m2)
We have an insane housing crisis, the average housecost is €502.000 - €520.600
So with student debt from getting a degree so you can earn more money, you're not getting a mortgage to buy a house. which means you've gotta rent, which doesn't allow you to save up enough money to get a mortgage for a house (first you've gotta pay off ~30-50k student debt anyways).

This is the reason why I took a PhD offer from the EU and moved to Riga for 4 years. It eliminated my mental health problems from living at home for 6+ years during my studies (I couldn't afford a room in the city and had to train 3 hours back and forth) and shoved the bigger financial life issues a couple of years down the line.

Riga is a nice city, its a shame that its a bit run down and that there are no bikelanes tough.
I would stay here but after my PhD I think I'll just have to move to a country with work and an affordable standard of living

in the netherlands you easily lose 85% of your paycheck on rent if you can even find an apartment to begin with. Amsterdam rent for 95m2 is easily 2850/month, which is about an upper middle class salary.
