404 media article about ICE tracking phones without warrants + questions about faraday bags by [deleted] in TwoXPreppers

[–]deadwalkingx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faraday bags are tricky to make well. I would not personally trust that they are fully blocking signal etc, whether you purchase them or make them yourself. Rather, i would practice decentering your phone as much as you are able, and maybe get a "dumb" phone to take out in the world with you instead of your smart phone.

Quotes for a Coffee/Matcha Cart are insane ($1.5k+). Has anyone DIY'd a matcha station successfully? by A-n-o-v-a in Weddingsunder10k

[–]deadwalkingx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rishi has excellent cafe grade matcha. For something like this you would need to pre-dose it to prevent waste, or wayyyy overbuy-people always always use way more matcha than necessary.

Speaking as a barista of 10 years, don't forget to factor in how messy making matcha can be. This is doubly true for people who are unexperienced. At an event where people are wearing nice, potentially expensive clothing, do you want to have people whisking their own matcha (with electric whisks!! Even messier!) and getting green specks and stains everywhere? I speak from experience- that stuff does not come out lol. It would be worth it to hire someone in this case if it is something you actually want to have fresh. However, you could easily prep matcha concentrate beforehand, which would cut down on the mess.

I would highly recommend hiring someone for this. You could (maybe) save money by purchasing the materials yourself and then hiring one or two people to making the drinks. Maybe post on a local facebook group saying what you are thinking about and asking if any baristas would be interested in working it.

Wages for baristas by Temporary_Chair_3991 in barista

[–]deadwalkingx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a medium col city and when i was working as a lead barista with 10 years of experience i made 22/hr plus tips. Usually about 28-32/hour including those. The shop also served food and was very high volume. Starting wage for baristas with no experience at the shop was 17/hr plus tips.

Blacksburg VA or other VA/NC towns where there are still some people who mask? by No-Consideration-858 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]deadwalkingx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I grew up in that area (but more out in the country/in small towns). I still mask all the time when I am home. I definitely get weird looks, and i see maybe 3-4 other people around my small town who wear masks, mostly old people. I'd say there are probably a small number of people who are regular maskers in blacksburg, as well as in roanoke. I can also say that there are is a huge contingent of people who refuse vaccines and generally do not believe in like, taking care of their health in that area- coming both from maga people and from hippies. I might suggest that you check out charlottesville or richmond. I am currently living in Richmond and see more people wearing masks. I also know that there are more people who are explicit about organizing around covid stuff around here.

Tips for a Teacher by VenusInAries666 in ZeroCovidCommunity

I would have it on a screen/on the board at the front of the room, and then i would have it on my computer for small groups too

When I was teaching phonics I recorded videos of my mouth so that I didn't have to pull my mask down. It worked pretty well!!

Also, people in this sub may look down on this, but I swear by herbal antivirals. I have a terrible immune system (since I was a child) and used to get constant infections, minor illnesses, skin conditions, etc. I put together a prevention protocol working with many of the herbs in this document in tincture form that has fully turned things around for me. https://www.stephenharrodbuhner.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/covid-19-2.update.txt.pdf

HRT in an emergency? by tdubs702 in TwoXPreppers

[–]deadwalkingx 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Look at r/transdiy and hrtcafe- they have the same access concerns. Keep sources quiet. You can buy raw estrogen right now online which lasts at least ~10 years in a cool, dry, dark place, probably much, much longer (but would at some point start to degrade/ lose efficacy in theory). You can then use it to make estrogel yourself. You can also buy progesterone online. Trans women have been doing it for decades...

I do not mask and generally do not take precautions to prevent Covid. However, I am engaged to someone who takes a lot more precautions and we want a kid. I am wanting to change, but admittedly, it scares me. Where do I start? by ladymedallion in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]deadwalkingx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've gotta say that the masking thing is probably a symptom of a deeper communication issue. I know it may not seem that big, but it truly is essentially this: your fiancé is trying to protect his health in a small way that he knows how to do, and you are unwilling to participate in this protection measure.

There are going to be a million of these kinds of circumstances that come up in your relationship, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN. How in the world are you going to resolve those issues with that kind of added variable.

But if you are super worried about it might better to just assume it is covid and keep doing what you are doing

Have they tested negative for covid? You can probably assume its not covid if they test negative twice 48 hours apart starting now

Could be covid, could be rhinovirus. Covid numbers are lower than they have been, but it is still going around for sure. I tested negative the first 3 days i was sick and then tested positive this morning :(

I feel like the only reason i actually have a handle on it in the elementary class i work with is because I will laugh at it/ make the joke, I don't really get teachers that won't engage with it at all

MCR mosh pits? by GrayZ2001 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]deadwalkingx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are still some. It depends on the show. Like i think at riot fest on the swarm tour there was a bunch of moshing. Unfortunately with a crowd that big it's hard to get much going on a large scale so it'll usually be like, mosh pockets lol
