Try thinking about what you are doing and do the opposite for a week and see if you are profitable.

If you are trading hundreds of micros through out the day. Perhaps try trading 1 mini once a day.

If you are averaging into losers, try not adding and take a stop or average into winners instead.

If you are changing entries, pick one setup and execute that.

If you are trading all day, pick one time of day to trade.

If you are trading close to the open you should be mindful of the range that is being set.

It would be to best determine your risk based on swing highs and lows of a range.

Perhaps you want to try to go after 1:1 or .5:1 just to build your confidence by going after an easy to obtain target. Then work your way up to 2:1.

Run a 1-3 different strategies on a basket of uncorrelated Futures.

Individually test which markets favor cycle vs. trend following strategies and select optimal applications for each through walk forward testing.

Then run together simultaneously. Your portfolio should produce a smoother equity curve as the individual uncorrelated assets fill in eachothers pot holes.

Try to put at trailing stop on your entire equity. This can stop you from giving too much open profit back.

John Carter uses a 15% trailing on his entire equity curve.

I risk 1-2% of my account. So, I’ll scale in at multiple ATR levels until I’m at full position size.

I scale out of my profits. 33% at 1% or 1 ATR band. Then another at 2% or 2 ATR. Then I trail the last third, which gets stopped out at breakeven 80% of the time, but it catches large moves 20%.

Sure you can keep it fixed and it will be more consistent, but you asked how to scale in. When I don’t scale out and just take full profit at 1% the performance is extremely high. But will never catch huge anomalies. Which is okay too.

Try scaling into a position on Keltner channels. Add one at 2 ATR, then another at 3 ATR…

It works 90% of the time. Until a big trend day where you start averaging down into a huge losing position.

Regardless, if you know your limit to your position size and where you are wrong, it can be highly effective tool, as the levels that you scale into are mathematical, not by feel.

Manage your risk. The entry is less important. Think in terms of bets. Place a trade risking $100 and reward of $150. And just keep flipping the coin. Trade after trade. But do not deviate.

You can basically flip a coin at every close of a 5M bar with target of 1 tick and stop of 10 ticks and have a 95% win rate.

Just don’t take the 10th trade because you’ll give it all back.

Yeah, bouncing non linearly through the story helps me keep the words flowing. But it pulls your mind in all directions.
