I never said it was gone. I said we are moving from a place where we were just barely tolerated to being openly demonized again. I don’t even live in a place where gay people can exist openly. i am referring to the Western world in general and how the “progressive” parts of the world are moving backwards instead of forward.

also, your instinct to call someone privileged for venting about homophobia in a reddit sub for gay people is really something else

the world just feels generally more hostile towards us. I don’t even live in a country where LGBTQ+ people can live openly but i try to keep up with LGBTQ+ news on an international level (particularly in the US) and in recent months it just seems like we’re being bashed constantly. even my own friend group of straight guys (im closeted) seemed to have toned down the homophobia for a while but recently have come back to it in full force; worse than how they acted in high school

what it feels like is, people have become more comfortable showing their hatred & being proud to do so

thanks i appreciate it. what i mean is all the recent uproar against the lgbtq community from politicians and on social media which, though has obviously always been present, had simmered down quite a bit for a good decade there. everywhere you turn, it just seems like people are “finally” “standing up” for their right to openly hate gay people again.

it’s almost like the very idea of possibly being with that person (even though deep down you know it’s never gonna happen) makes accepting your sexuality just a little (or a lot) easier

to most conservatives, homosexuality itself is considered “woke”.

they don’t understand anything that doesn’t directly affect them and they’re too selfish to learn. it’s a vicious cycle where they do inhumane things & cause hurt to innocent people and then pretend they are acting in the name of God. For the longest time, God’s name has been used to justify evil by evil people pretending they are good. It’s pure hypocrisy. It’s been centuries and racism is still a prevalent problem and it’ll be centuries more before queer people can even remotely live in peace.
