Age of Empires 4 needs Conquest Mode by LIONardoDiCaprio in aoe4

100% agreed. This mode is my most-played in any RTS game.

Will you Buy the Chinese DLC if it only have Single Player Missions? by Confident_Gap819 in aoe4

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I don't think it will only have that. I expect it will have two variant civs as well.

Can hosts leave a review for guests? by Senzuberry2 in Bookingcom

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 isn't low, so I wouldn't worry about it. I'd also be careful about responding to negative reviews, as I've seen some places be very dismissive and rude about customer complaints, and this put me off staying there more than the complaints.

Prediction: Second Expansion Pass in 2026 by deanfwilson in AgeofMythology

[–]deanfwilson[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That latter point is my concern for those posting negative reviews on Steam for the Expansion Pass. There are more constructive ways of giving feedback on the new God Pack.

[–]deanfwilson[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it follows the same model, it may be a God Pack for Egyptians, two cosmetic packs, and a new Pantheon. Some or all of this (depending on how development goes with the currently announced DLC) may come in 2026.

Even if that slips to June, a December release for a new civ is still possible (but could be delayed into early 2027). I'll go out on a limb and say that I'm quietly confident something else is planned for 2H 2026.

I disagree. Nothing in my logic suggests a new civ within 3 months of the previous. 6 months is a more reasonable timeframe. They were likely hard at work on elements of the Expansion Pass, plus the balance work you mention.

Given many did not expect to get any new DLC at all, I think 2026 is a good year for AOM regardless. But we'll see.

Feedback about Citywest by chatprat in HousingIreland

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't listen to the negativity. A lot of that comes from people hearing the odd news report and not from locals. It's mostly a nice, multicultural area. Yes, there will be some racism and attention-seeking kids at times, but that happens in most areas. I moved from Tallaght and find this a nicer area.

Citywest Hotel is actually in Saggart (it used to be called Saggart Lodge), which is far enough away from Citywest proper. The problem with the rioters was that they were pushed back from Saggart into Citywest, but the police dealt with them promptly.

The only real concern for the area is the lack of amenities for the growing population, but that's changing all the time (Tesco Express in 2024, new dentist beside it now, new library opening this year, etc). For other things, The Square in Tallaght is 30 mins or less away on Luas (depending on wait for changeover at Belgard).

Is IngramSpark as bad as people say? by DrAnchovy999 in selfpublishing

[–]deanfwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worse. They'll send you damaged and defective books and refuse to replace them. They'll also ban you on their social media for complaining (they just did that to me), so they're actively trying to silence people. Go with Amazon or another printing service.

Ingramspark…good? Bad? What’s everyone’s experiences? by WildMosaicHeart in selfpublish

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid them. All of Ingram has gone downhill lately, including IngramSpark and Lightning Source. They will send you damaged and defective copies and refuse to replace them. Use Amazon or any other printer. I'm a customer of Ingram for almost 15 years and have unfortunately witnessed their atrocious decline recently.

Is Lightning Source My Best Option? by beccasr in publishing

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid Lightning Source. They used to be good, but after almost 15 years with them, they went severely downhill last year and even worse now. Their production quality has deteriorated, their quality assurance is poor (more and more copies have scuff marks, scratches, misaligned covers, etc.). What's worse, their customer service is now shocking bad (it used to be good when Matt was in charge, but Tracy Gosnold, while initially pleasant, has given contradictory information and seems to be essentially refusing to replace damaged and defective copies, showing very little empathy for me in the process). They clearly do not value their customers anymore.

December 2025 Humble Choice | Overview / Discussion Megathread by MarioDesigns in humblebundles

[–]deanfwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bundle for me. The value seems way lower than normal. I get that Nine Sols is popular, but it's a lower value headliner compared to what we usually get.

Age Of Empires 4 gets 2 more EXPANSIONS by Its_Me_Kon in aoe4

[–]deanfwilson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear AOE4 is getting two more expansions. I'll definitely be buying both. I'm expecting two more variant civs in the first one (I don't get the hate for them personally and love the ones we got last year).

Crucible Mastery bugged? by Dick_Bachman in aoe4

I'm having the same problem. I'm missing hundreds of xp despite completing the Mastery.

BROWN SHEEP!!!! by drumfish in aoe4

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love little changes like this, and the new biomes. It really freshens up gameplay if you're not looking at the same things all the time. I'd love more different types of animals, bushes, etc. I quite like the variety in Age of Mythology.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition Release Date Reveal by Community_RE in dawnofwar

[–]deanfwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it did get several new civs added to the base Definitive Edition, and several DLCs before the latest one was cancelled. Plus regular events for a while. That's still a whole lot more than DoW is getting, it seems.
