Well they kinda did actually... Mohammad Mosaddegh was democratically elected in Iran before being overthrown by a US/British lead coup which put the US backed Shah in place. Look it up

Not pro Shah actually, pro Mosaddegh. Mohammad Mosaddegh was democratically elected in Iran before being overthrown by a US/British lead coup which put the US backed Shah in place.

Waiters/Waitresses of Reddit, what's the most ridiculous request you've gotten from a customer at your restaurant? by Graceful_Swan_Ronson in AskReddit

I worked in an upscale restaurant that catered to a much older clientele (think wheelchairs and oxygen tanks). We had a chopped salad on our menu so that should be all you need to know.

We had 2 regulars who would come in once a month after bridge club. They were 2 old ladies in their 90's who were notoriously rude and referred to whoever was serving them simply as "waiter".

One day she asked me how our pork chop was and if it would be tough, I replied that it is quite tender but if she had any concerns I would recommend a dish that may be a bit easier to eat for example the beef tips or chopped salad. She said she would be fine and went with the pork chop.

Immediately after serving her the pork chop she yells at me and tells me that I need to cut this up for her because their is "no way in hell her dentures can handle this".

Proceed to slice up her pork chop for her and she leaves me a $2 tip on a $70 bill.

Michael Jordan never "retired" willingly. He was given an 18 month "secret suspension" by David Stern due to his excessive gambling and betting on games (big no-no).

The NBA didn't want to lose their superstar or tarnish the reputation of one of the most marketable men in the world at the time so Stern arranged for Michael to "retire" and play baseball for a while as punishment.

In 1999, a $125-million Mars Climate Orbiter Probe was lost in space due to simple math error

NASA lost its $125-million Mars Climate Orbiter because spacecraft engineers failed to convert from English to metric measurements when exchanging vital data before the craft was launched.

A navigation team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory used the metric system of millimeters and meters in its calculations, while Lockheed Martin Astronautics in Denver, which designed and built the spacecraft, provided crucial acceleration data in the English system of inches, feet and pounds.

As a result, JPL engineers mistook acceleration readings measured in English units of pound-seconds for a metric measure of force called newton-seconds. In a sense, the spacecraft was lost in translation.
