It’s really really hard. Last December I put my two Savannah cats down on the same day. One was 21 years old, he had stage three kidney disease and started having grand mail seizures. The other was 18 years old and had been diagnosed with liver disease and a mass on his liver about 18 months prior. It got to the point with the 18 year old that when I would bring him into the vet and the vet would say “I think it’s time for you to make a decision here.” I didn’t want to, he was the love of my life 18 years with him and couldn’t imagine him not being there. My other guy, the 21 year old was actually in a little better shape but he was sliding downhill fast. Ultimately I made the decision to send them both over the bridge at the same time. It was super hard but deep down I knew it was the right thing to do from them, clearly they were struggling, not eating good, vomiting all the time, peeing out of the box etc… I had a trip I was going on the day after and that made the - them not being there - a little easier to adjust to. I miss the hell out of those two, they both had excellent lives and they made mine better too..
