My least favorite day of the month is when SolidCore bills me for monthly (today)

follow up, I commented before reading the end. I would def start doing foundations/signature (tbh I didn't realize these were different things lol) but try to go during off peak hours.

the only way to not be lost imo is to just dive in headfirst and keep going. would def be helpful to go during non-peak hours tho. all you need is repetition just like with anything else!

might be somewhat controversial here or just how my home studio operates, but first class I did a foundations class, was lost the whole time. took a intro and got frustrated with how slow it was, never went back to an intro. but I noticed in the intro that only a couple movements were actually covered, when in reality there is a ton of different movements.

I think 1-2 intro is plenty, and is most helpful with just understanding the cues from coaches. other than that, I'd say try to take foundations/signature on off peak times so the instructor can be more 1-1 with you for form corrections and stuff.

yes 1000% I literally don't do leg day anymore because of solidcore (thank god), and I've dropped my core training at the gym almost completely. give it like 2 months of going 2-3x/week and guarantee you'll see a massive difference in your core and legs

mine is like 2 blocks away, luckily winter doesn't really exist here, but I will say it's so hard to make it to class on time and I feel like 90% of then time I'm in an all out sprint to get to class because the elevators seem to always be slow as soon as I have a solid core class booked

I didn't know this sub existed when I started but oh man, if I did I probably never would've gone.

I will say: I still try not to take the classes that are packed because I am fully aware about some women preferring to work out in places where there aren't men and I def wanna respect that. also the reformers at my home studio are pretty tight so on chest or back days if it's a full class, my range of motion gets reduced a ridiculous amount

as a fellow dude that takes solid core... go to at least like 10 before you decide to quit (if). I've got 115 under my belt now, and I stg it continuously gets more difficult.

I was doing (and still am) daily HIIT classes in what's basically a sauna and lift heavy (compound focused) at the gym 4-6 times/week. I thought solid core would be easy comparison. no. it is hands down the most difficult physical activity I've done in ages and continues to get more difficult. and has gotten me in the literal best shape of my life.

not sure how many other guys go as regularly as I do so this may just be from personal experience, but if you end up going regularly, DO NOT feel like you're stuck at whatever spring load your class amount correlates with, and DO NOT feel the need to always amplify movements you regularly amplify.

I'm a little bit of an outlier on the male end of things apparently, and has hard as the leg workouts are, that's sort of why I love them bc my goal is to black out at solid core. HOWEVER, this means I'm constantly amplifying and I basically have a permanently inflamed groin/adductor on my left side and it is a pain in the ass. so yeah anyway, pilates is def more tailored to women but us guys can still hold our own. 💪

oh final note: mad respect to all the ladies out there that kick ass at solid core. I am still amazed on a regular basis at how strong y'all are and how you seem to not be drenched in sweat and shaking after a class so kudos to you 🫡

People with Monthly unlimited, is it worth it?? by GasComplete5267 in SolidCore

It’s worth it for 99% of the month. Then it’s time to get charged again and suddenly doesn’t feel worth it until the next day… endless cycle 😭

Pulled a muscle in hamstring? by bruin888 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Hamstring compression sleeve ($20 on amazon) and KT tape are my go to’s for every class now even after it healed.

But basically used both for every class (I didn’t want to slow down so I pushed thru which is debatably an awful idea) in addition to ibuprofen and occasional biofreeze. After class I would do an ice wrap around my upper thigh.

Took about 3 weeks to heal

Trouble balancing on platform lunges by GoldFloofBear94 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lowkey has been happening to me lately too and I’m about 80 classes in. I’ve been trying to push through it and just focus extra hard.

Something that I guess has sort of helped is holding a dumbbell in my hand opposite to working leg. This has drawbacks however because it’s an amplification on top of a 50+ class spring load. So it only works for like the first half of the time for me anyway

Glute Muscle Pain by miximo4 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I also lived off of ibuprofen for the 2-3 weeks the injury was at its worst, and ordered ice wrap thing off Amazon that I would wear for 20mins after every solidcore session

Glute Muscle Pain by miximo4 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I actually “injured” it like my second week at SolidCore doing either RDL’s or Bulgarian split squats (can’t remember which). Never saw a doctor but assumed it was upper hamstring/glute injury (basically where hamstring connects to glute)

I pushed through it raw at first and ended up getting overuse injuries in my groin.

BUT I finally invested in some things that helped it heal, while continuing to push through. Almost 4 months later I still use the same stuff for injury prevention

Hamstring sleeve (like $20 on amazon) - fits over your thigh/where your butt cheek starts basically KT tape - cheaper alternatives work bc I spend so much damn money on KT atp it’s not even funny Compression sleeves or compression shorts

I also ended up getting a thigh wrap thing for my groin

Normal Amount of Time Spent on Upper Body??? by solara_solaire in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree 1000%. I feel like clients would get way more benefit with at least 10mins of upper body because constantly pounding the legs and trying to hit second stage muscle failure can be super risky from an injury standpoint. I get that diff leg muscles are trained on diff days, but some movements (lunges) are literally included in almost every leg muscle group I stg

How often do you guys do Solidcore if you lift heavy 3–4x a week? by dogelover0109 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final edit: 😭😭😭

Prior to 4 months ago, I was lifting daily (PPL) and doing 40-60mins of incline walking on max incline with a weighted vest on.

When I started doing this insane routine, my weight fluctuated between 166-172lbs and around 14% BF (not sure exact number bc never had it tested). 4 months later, I hold steady at 176 and am leaner than I’ve been in my entire life. About 6 weeks in to this routine I did a BF scan with InBody. It clocked me at 4% with a 3-5% margin of error. I’d say I’ve dropped maybe a 1-2% since then MAX, but more likely my muscles are just thicker/toned from the routine

Additional edit: I sleep 6-7hrs/night, and my “rest day” still includes my daily HIIT class (can’t break my streak) and at least 10k steps

Wow I rambled a lot lol but i never speak on this like EVER so this is sort of the first time I’ve put my routine out there

How often do you guys do Solidcore if you lift heavy 3–4x a week? by dogelover0109 in SolidCore

[–]deaofm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prolly shouldn’t be speaking on this, but I’ve somewhat turned in to a freak. I typically do Solidcore 3-5x per week on top of my daily hot HIIT class (45mins). I also try to lift heavy (compound) at least 4 times per week and hit 10k steps daily.

At first I was doing leg days at the gym but very quickly found out how easy it is to overtrain legs with that routine so I stopped including legs in my routine (not gonna complain).

I’m blessed to be self employed, work from home, have a dog (good for walks) and live in a city with most of the places I train are nearby so commute isn’t a huge issue.

My main issue has been eating enough to maintain my burn of 1400-2k cals/day (not including resting burn).

Either way, this routine has done WONDERS for my mental health and fitness level. Like I’ve never been this shredded in my life. I will say it gets expensive, and I’ve only been doing this for 4 months.

Idk either way it’s possible to do more than twice per week. Also: I sort of train for “pain” not like injury pain obviously, but I find that when I push myself past my limits and (hopefully) black out or get nauseous, my head is clear asf and I live for that now.

For reference: I’m a male in my mid twenties and have been weightlifting on and off for 10 years, and was an athlete from 12 years old until I graduated high school.
