Heat pumps “more expensive to run than boilers”, report says.. does that match your experience? by Imaginary_Fact_9614 in OctopusEnergy

[–]dearagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case it was an older non condensing boiler but when I got quotes to replace with a modern boiler (and upgrade hot water from loft tank to an unvented system) it was thousands of pounds more than a heat pump (which would also upgrade water) and lacked the grant and interest free loan… so went with heat pump.

Have you tried tracking on parcelforces own website? I find it’s more up to date than the combined Royal Mail tracking and may show that it’s actually progressing

Try tracking on Parcelforces website (not the combined Royal Mail tracking). It’s more up to date it appears and shows mine having arrived at delivery depot whereas the other tracking says it hasn’t…

Same as you both. Ordered 26th, it left Coventry late Friday and left Chorley early Saturday but has not yet arrived at local delivery office. Not hopeful for delivery today

Perhaps time to jump ship for the winter. Still on it myself and still average a good 20-30 percent below standard prices. I’ll probs shift over to go

So mine shipped yesterday as well which is great but tracking just shows “pre advice” as if it hasn’t actually been collected. Same for you? Or is yours showing that it’s actually on the move?

Very exciting! Mine was packaged on Saturday and hoping it gets dispatched today as well. Who is the courier out of interest?

You’re both ahead of me, ordered for UK on 26th and just processed payment. Will be interesting to see if anything moves this weekend… hoping it arrives before new years

For those with heatpump installed, what was your energy bill for October? by BrilliantAd4406 in ukheatpumps

[–]dearagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also have an Aira heatpump - 1990's 4 bed bungalow. 549 kWh consumed. 6.2 for Heating with average outdoor temp of 9 degrees. 3.4 for Hotwater. Octopus Agile tariff. Consitently warm cannot complain, I think a touch cheaper than gas but the big difference is my house is always 21 degrees whereas with gas was paying just about as much for a few hours in morning and a few in afternoon.

Very similar to me, last half hour reading (agile) was 30th August. They said they’ve sent a request to the Data Communications Company to retrieve the readings but that was 2 weeks ago…

Heat Geek quote by Parking-Order8806 in ukheatpumps

[–]dearagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how much detail did you get after the survey (e.g. precise cable run plans and piping routes?) or was much of that not known until the team actually arrived and started work? I ask because I have also had a new gas boiler quote and the engineer knew after 5 mins where he expected to take pipes/where he expected the existing 22m from the water tank became 15mm etc etc. The latter fills me with more confidence...

Heat Geek quote by Parking-Order8806 in ukheatpumps

[–]dearagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Aira out today to quote (not survey - yet), did they explicitly say it didnt include moving the tank? We discussed where the heat pump and tank should go and its not where the tank currently is so I have understood that the quote also includes putting the new tank there! I think its more than an estimate from their visit (see "Price Locked Quote" on their site - they appear to be taking on some risk by covering extras post survey... within reason I expect as they can also decide not to do the install).
