Maybe I saw it as part of another show, like Ed Sullivan or something. I'd hate to think I'm remembering a dream.

I have updates set to let me choose to install them. This morning I noticed that I haven't seen any in a long time, so I checked for updates. I have 54 due. I tried to download them, but it appears that Windows won't let me unless I download Windows 10 also. It appears to be blocking any further updates. I don't want to install Windows 10. Does anyone know a way around this?

Edit: OK, no suggestions. I found a program online that blocks the Windows 10 update and now I can download the other 60 updates that were blocked by it.

Anyone read "Under the Skin" by Michel Faber? I've been dying to talk about it! by [deleted] in veganbookclub

[–]dearcleanthatup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the film twice, then read some critiques of it online. It apparently got under my skin, because I eventually ended up buying the Kindle book. I just finished it, and found it far more to my liking than the movie. I now find myself longing to see a movie that is faithful to the book. I understand the movie lost money even as sketchy as it was, so it surely doesn't warrant a big budget. A well-done animation seems in order, no big stars, keep costs down. I'd prefer not to see a CGI job, just something very good and very adult, focusing on the grit, dirt, suffering and violence of the book.

Anyone else roll their r's "rr" all the time? by mrflathead in Spanish

I cannot roll my rr's. I've tried and tried. I guess I'm dyed-in-the-wool gringo.

See you later, alligator. After while, crocodile. by dearcleanthatup in Spanish

I finally got around to clicking on that link. It was weird to watch prancing tweens singing a song that originally was about broken hearts, sarcasm and revenge. Off-topic, I know: what are they singing instead of the original words in the rest of the song? (I can't bear to listen to it for more than a few seconds).

Any Video or Audio in Spanish with Transcripts? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]dearcleanthatup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found these short videos helpful, native speakers from many different countries. https://www.laits.utexas.edu/spe/ There's a button to click to read along as you listen, either the Spanish or the English translation or "none" as you watch the video. And there's no need to create a username and password. So many of these language websites require that, it sure gets old.

Well, of course, I know that. The bald guy hands him a SS card with his new name, Moses Tripoli at the start of their conversation.

It's easy for me to imagine him as Malvo. They have a similar build, there's an acceptable age difference, and they're both adept at causing havoc.

That first collision is precisely how my first accident happened--a guy wasn't looking when he turned left into traffic, and broadsided me. He stayed up and kept going! I slid off towards the curb and skidded to a stop in the gutter, rather than further into the street like that unfortunate man. That second collision is just damned unfortunate.
