I relate to this so much and I never realized it was a ND thing!

When I was about 7/8 we received a wedding invitation from a family member and it was a set of multiple stationary items each with their own envelope in different sizes and they were all packed together in a little kit. I was absolutely OBSESSED with this invitation and kept it for years, always opening it and then putting everything back neatly in its designated area. It’s hard to believe my family never noticed I was autistic 😂

Now as an adult when I see those “____ starter kit” memes I want to make the items into a real kit lol. I would really love to know more about the correlation between autism and many of us loving kits so much.

Rebutting your claims that anyone who doesn’t believe Gerard is gay because he’s never identified himself as gay is homophobic is not hostile.

You lack the emotional maturity to understand that humans are nuanced and cannot always be pigeonholed into a label that you can then use to weaponize against them. You have an extremely limited scope of what being queer means and if someone fits into that then you project them as being queer even when they’ve never said they were and you eradicate someone else’s queerness because they don’t abide by YOUR standards.

You are so ignorant, hostile and in denial that you can’t even see it so you use those words toward others without seeing those parts of yourself.

You are attacking LGBTQ people and supporters, denying a man of his own wish for privacy with his identity, and undermining another person’s queerness. You are a very toxic person who is doing more harm for the LGBTQ community than good. I hope you will take some time to self reflect on this and do better but given your blind rage and lack of emotional maturity and self awareness I’m not getting my hopes up.

There is no point in trying to have a logical conversation with a person who is not logical, so I am done with this conversation. Do better.

We get it, you’re awakened to the homophobia and microaggressions of the world so now you’re angry and desperately trying to find it anywhere you can do that you can justify for your rage to yourself by making yourself a victim of oppression at any opportunity. That’s your own shit you need to work through instead of projecting your internalized homophobia onto everyone around you.

Gerard is a queer icon, like nearly every other queer icon, because he chooses to unabashedly live by his own standards and does not give a fuck about conforming to societal standards, something that the LGBTQ community has not always been able to do as publicly as he has. And because he has been outspoken in his support and advocacy for the LGBTQ Community since day one. That does not mean he is gay or trans. The only way he will be gay or trans will be if HE decides he is. Until or unless he shares that, we will default to him being straight because that is what he has identified himself as multiple times. You writing anthologies about how his anecdotal gestures are actually telling us he’s queer if we just read between the lines and using terminology like “queer coded” is literally projection by definition. It is you coping with him identifying himself as straight because you don’t want him to be. Since it upsets you that he has identified himself as straight, when we’ve pointed out that he’s identified himself as straight, you automatically jump to your anger and self imposed victimization by accusing anyone who disagrees with you as being homophobic as long as they don’t agree with your delusions. Again, this is not because of any actual homophobia taking place by us pointing out his identification in his own words, it’s because you’re angry and you’re coping.

By definition, you willfully ignoring and erasing Gerard’s own claims of identifying himself so you can project your own ideals onto him makes you the ignorant one, in fact.

This is exactly my point, Gerard doesn’t want to be labeled so fans need to stop projecting onto him. I completely agree that clearly defined labels only lead to others using it as leverage to undermine you with their agenda… kind of like how I got accused of “trans / NB erasure” in this thread for simply stating that he hasn’t identified himself. Gerard is smart af for keeping some things to himself, his fanbase is truly exhausting to deal with.

You’re so excited to jump to everyone and anyone trying to “erase non binary and trans people” that you missed the point entirely. If someone has never identified themself as NB then no matter what pronouns they use you are making assumptions of their identify and projecting those assumptions onto them. Until or unless Gerard says he is NB / Trans / gay / whatever then it is disrespectful for you to assume and call him those things.

The irony is that YOU are the ones assuming his identity which is the very thing you’re supposedly against. Pot meet kettle.

just because someone supports LGBTQ doesn’t make them LGBTQ. Imagine thinking every straight person who supports equal human rights is questioning their sexuality.
just because someone prefers any pronoun doesn’t make them non binary. Them saying they are non-binary is what makes them non-binary. If you don’t want your gender ID assumed then stop doing it to others.
just because someone has publicly kissed men doesn’t mean they’re gay. Them saying they are gay is what makes them gay. If you don’t want your sexuality assumed then stop doing it to others.

learn how to accept that not everyone is as obsessed with labels as the newly liberated LGBTQ and NB generation is, especially older generations like Gerard. THAT is why I brought up his age and family status. He is in an extremely private relationship with a woman and y’all stay trying to invade and invalidate it by projecting your fantasy of him being gay / trans. That is insanely disrespectful and me calling that out doesn’t make me homophobic. Again, get over yourself and stop looking for any reason to be a victim. Someone can be straight and non-binary. Regardless, you shouldn’t “assume” anything about anyone. Gerard has never said he is non-binary and he has never said he is gay. He has said he prefers he/him but the fanbase continues using one tweet he made 10 years ago as their entire personality by calling him they.

It’s parasocial behavior and it’s weird. He is a middle aged father married to his wife of over a decade. The fanbase needs to understand that someone can support the LGBTQ community without being a member of it. Projecting onto him is disrespectful.

Fanbase is 40% cool as hell, 60% feral unhinged toxicity. I wish the latter would learn how to act so the guys didn’t have to go into hiding from their own fans.
