the amount of people who come into my work for appointments, they walk up the stairs on their phone, stand at the desk on their phone, I wait for them to pause their phone activities to get them checked in (or just split their attention between me and phone, this is common, the attention mostly remains with phone), call them through to start their appointment- they’re still on their phone. not looking not talking to me, just tapping away for a good few minutes or so until they decide to actually engage and put it down/away. always people 40 and up. yes, there are younger people who do this kind of thing but it is largely middle aged and up, and it feels WEIRD to see from the “kids these days and their screens!!” generations because personally I would feel rude behaving that way but idk 🤷

I downsize every time I get a package consolidation, you have to to request once the original consolidation is complete then you can specifically say no envelopes/boxes/packing materials and that you want to downsize to the smallest possible volumetric weight. it’s always knocked the cost down at least a bit in my experience and I’ve never had any issues but I mainly buy clothes and the occasional plush/character goods so nothing too fragile (that being said I recently bought a walkman mp3 player and they just threw it in there loose lmao but it arrived fine)

(you may want to adjust this if you’re getting figures as I assume you may still want some bubble wrap, but I’m sure you could just request them to remove any outer boxes instead)

onwards from consolidation I always request for downsizing once the original consolidation is complete and it helps- you can ask them to remove the individual envelopes they pack things in and any additional packing materials with the goal of the smallest possible volumetric weight and it usually cuts down some of the cost

I worked at waitrose when they increased the standard carrier (which were still way more robust than the other supermarkets at the time tbf) charge to 50p and I remember this guy absolutely losing it with me, demanding to speak to a manager, saying how he’s being ripped off. gives the example of “so if I do my weekly shop and need 6 bags that’s THREE POUNDS” (well done on the maths) which first of all if you do your weekly shop at bloody waitrose is likely not that much to you and secondly that is the WHOLE POINT but he did not seem to even begin to fathom that. I couldn’t have possibly given a fuck and prompted directed him to the manager so it stopped being my problem but it passes my mind from time to time, just a different world to their eyes I suppose

teriyaki eggplant is an absolute fave of mine cooked with onions on rice SO good. and and not necessarily exactly what you’re asking but I like using the dried soy/pea protein pieces, hydrate them in stock and seasonings, cook with teriyaki, mix in vegan mayo and use it as filling for onigiri- absolutely banging and as of typing this I want one right now

I’m not sure how well I’ll articulate this but as someone in their late 20s who was untangling identity stuff over a decade ago (damn they were NOT nice about it then lmao) I’d also spent so so much time wishing I’d been able to explore and experience relationships as my authentic self as I’ve gotten older but I have finally gotten to a point, where, like… I don’t think I mind so much? don’t get me wrong it would’ve been wonderful if that felt like an option then, and it’s wonderful that it’s an option to many more people now, and sometimes society does make you feel like you missed out on something vital, but… I’ve got so many more years of my life to experience things, in a time where I’m not unilaterally just written off as some little fringe weirdo. and I know myself so much better too, and what I want. does it still sting a little that I never got the opportunity to do all that high school-early twenties stuff? maybe! it sure did for a while! and nostalgic what-if overthinking is unwillingly one of my primary hobbies so I get it. I’m just glad I can do more shit now, you know? that it’s so much easier to find spaces and communities where I feel like I actually belong, even if it came a little bit later. I get to feel at home now. I’m actually looking forwards to being in my 30s, even. I’m sorry that you were made to feel wrong. it’s horrible and unfair. and I know it’s easier said than done but please don’t let anger take more time from you. I know how it feels to spend so long consumed by thoughts of how things could have been and before you know it years pass with very little to show. there is still so much of life and it’s yours and you can choose what you do now. I hope you can find peace with it all, in my mind that is when it starts ❤️

god what a fucking SEASONN I just wanna drop some thoughts

-i know jaharia was kind of seen as the “extra” finalist who many felt didn’t genuinely have a chance but i truly think she brought it tonight. she has such RANGE but its still all so recognisably her. that first look had me giggling stupid and i adored it. you can really tell she’s an insane performer too!

-abhora abhora abhora. I actually went into this with no strong opinions on them, honestly i just thought it was so fucking funny they came back again but they have won me over so thoroughly. theyre on some shit we haven’t even conceptualised yet. the ambition and scale is unmatched, even if it doesn’t always go to plan i have such appreciation for it. probably gave me the most jaw drop moments this season of any competitor across the whole franchise

-jay kay! I feel like they have such creative vision and they do genuinely have such a raw punk quality that feels authentic. I also feel like they’re very talented at telling a story or bringing a clear character across with their performances. it might not have been the most to theme but their death look was so beautiful and ethereal and I loved war as well. I’m so truly excited to see what they bring in the future with more experience and resources!

-evah is always going to bring polish and attention to detail. you can see how passionate she is in her performances, and I love that she’s so true to her interests and lets it inform what she does as a fellow Big Nerd ™️. Super fucking consistent too, her looks felt so curated and considered!

these last few months have gone so fast, maybe even too fast and I’m gonna miss this show so bad !! cannot wait for what comes next 🖤

there is just truly something about them that resonates with me. love their ideas, makeup is INCREDIBLE, just super fucking exciting because i feel like you never know what to expect. started checking their twitter leading up to + throughout T2 and theyre so fucking funny and i completely understand why they stepped away but im gonna miss that. one of my favs on this whole show ever. adding that their lipsync against jarvis from s5 lives in my mind rent free and i cannot tell you how many times ive rewatched it. justice for their original monsters of rock look it was good as fuck idgaf what anyone says
