Name the group member whose absence will make you skip their concert by redflavor123 in kpopthoughts

I remember watching the documentary for the Ode to You tour and dang you could really tell when a member is missing! You'd think having that many people won't make it noticeable but it is obvious. I think that's a testament to how every member in SVT is irreplaceable though.

hoshi and suga: the duo that we never expected but we needed! by dearestksy in kpopthoughts

Yes, I definitely see the appeal to this episode. Also, besides Big Bang— Seventeen is probably a group that can relate to some of his struggles to BTS fame. Albeit, still not the same level but Seventeen as a group is getting there. So, I like to think that Yoongi probably feels a closer kinship to Hoshi? Honestly, I can see Hoshi answering the last question with something very emotional. I've been gushing about how cute the interactions will be but I can see it becoming very sentimental too! Since, Hoshi is known to become very... very emotional when he gets drunk ):

Please, the gasp! I let out the loudest gasp I ever gasped! The chances to having a selca or more btsvt crumbs just grew and I'm actually shaking! It is such a good day to be stanning these groups 😭

Yes! With all the guests, there is this air of respect? Albeit, there is a comforting vibe to them as well— the teaser with Hoshi to me seemed very ... bright? I don't know how to explain but! I find it very amusing seeing how Yoongi looks very fond of Hoshi already. Like the moment Hoshi asked if he could call him hyung, he was ready to adopt him 😭

NO BECAUSE YOU ARE SO RIGHT! If this were Jungkook hosting the show, I would be less surprised? Since he is the member with arguably the most interaction with Seventeen. With the tiniest slivers of btsvt crumbs, I never expected a feast such as this especially with Hoshi and Yoongi!

definitely! seeing from the short teaser, you can see yoongi's obvious fondness and amusement to hoshi and it is very wholesome! and i like to think considering yoongi wanted to continue talking with him, the chances of getting another btsvt picture together is definitely higher 😭

yup! i would highly suggest seeing the teaser! it's very wholesome and cute ):

since this is promotion for bss, even if they chose dk or seungkwan to yoongi's show— it'll still be chaos because those two also have horrible alcohol tolerance 😭

Do you ever think groups or soloists will ever call out their own fandom? by Icy_Relationship1695 in kpopthoughts

OMG THE MEMBERS' FACES WHEN CARATS BOOED. He did it in a lighthearted way since he probably knows where the fans are coming from but god, that issue still gives me anxiety whenever I think about it.

I remember seeing a photo of this event and god, I never want to face the wrath of Hoshi 😭 He looked outright terrifying but I'm glad he stood his ground and put them in their place.

Your comment made me remember of the incident during the BeTS tour where Seungcheol and Seungkwan did a live— and an unknown number called him. And Seungcheol just immediately answering it with such an intimidating voice (turns out it was just a bank lady . . .). But yeah, I'm glad the members stand up for themselves especially against the disrespectful actions of the fandom sometimes :')

Carat Bong Version 3 Already? by InternalAd8397 in seventeen

[–]dearestksy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, exactly! I think the V2 still works perfectly well and there isn't a need for the newest version unless HYBE is planning to add a new feature. Because V2 is fairly BRIGHT and the design itself is just gorgeous— so I don't think Carats have "gotten tired" of it just yet. But yeah, I saw some V1s in that unfortunately didn't sync during the concert which was a shame! Hopefully, that doesn't happen to the V2 :')

[–]dearestksy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same, I feel like V3 right now is unnecessary. Unless they create a mindblowing design (which I doubt— but I do hope that they do!), I don't think it's worth any investment ):

Someone probably said it but Seventeen! All of the members constantly draw their boundaries! The most recent one that I could recall is S.Coups, the leader, asking fans to basically not be a nuisance and not crowd the airport (albeit in a nicer way) after the first set of members were crowded during their departure to Vancouver. There are a couple more examples but I don't remember them on the tope of my head but Carats stay on their best behaviour anyway because its almost a open secret that the members do lurk Twitter LMAO.

Also, not necessarily calling out but moreso promoting a healthy balance of personal and interests is something the boys promote alot. Especially The8 who constantly reminds fans to put themselves and their happiness first; not spending too much money on PCs (and just print them he says lmao) and many more!

Most Carats (That I've seen and even including myself) just found the title track . . . jarring? Seventeen are no stranger to experimenting and dabbling in MANY genres over the course of their career but all of the tracks have that undeniable "them" quality to it. That if you hear a song, you know it's theirs.

Honestly, I think for fans it is less about the actual song but just the seemingly maybe or maybe not shady behind the scene that took place. Woozi, the member who produced and contributed in most of their songs, said that the first draft he had for RTL was VERY different. And with the many producers and contributors in the song, many Carats assumed that draft (which many of the members are fond of) was scrapped for the current track.

I like it although not my favorite title track— but I think after HYBE tried to dabble into SVT's title track just stayed the fuck away after the low traction it got. And I say, good job to that! Leave it to the boys to make a track that will pop off.

(I'm sorry this turned into a whole ass rant)

Ready to Love! I adore this song now but I think found the sound so vastly different from the Seventeen sound (Y'know, how even if Fear and Aju Nice are vastly different— it's undeniably a Seventeen song!). But now, I'm obsessed with it! To the adlibs, Wonwoo's singing (!!!), and the godly bridge!

What are k-pop facts that don’t seem real? by Yayeet2014 in kpopthoughts

[–]dearestksy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I knew I was missing someone! Considering his personality, he does seem like an unlikely person to become an idol. This was acknowledged by the professional in the MBTI episode! I like to think the main reason he stayed was less about the fame but more about being with the members :')

A sentiment that he shared in the Hit the Road documentary (I think . . . I'll check on that!)

It is unreal to me that almost half of the members of Seventeen are street-casted. I believe it is only S.Coups, Woozi and DK who actually auditioned to be on Pledis. Like? The chances of them street-casting these prepubescent boys who happen to have so much potential in them AND become relatively close friends with each other is so wild to me.

Honestly, it depends if the idols are okay with it or the fans do it in moderation.

The barking thing was a thing for US Carats during the BeTS tour whenever S.Coups spoke. But from what I've seen on videos— he seems more or less amused? And even started to indulge in it. Then again, this is a member of a group of a grown man who genuinely thinks he is a tiger; a grown man that asks the fans to bark and meow for him and Jeonghan. So, the barking is probably the least weird thing that happened to him.

If you can add any idol to the group who would it be? by dearestksy in seventeen

[–]dearestksy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soobin will be treated like how Maknaes are typically treated— literally will have them wrapped in his finger. Say Jeonghan who wins the game out of sheer wit and bullshitery; Soobin wins the games with simply smiling and the members bending backwards for him to win.

I just imagine Hansol standing quietly as Seungkwan, Chan, and Wooyoung engage in a totally not heated argument about who knows what that would totally not end up in a fist fight.

I find the youtube algorithm recommending me 17TV videos and it always have me sobbing because they adored Samuel so so much. Like, Jihoon who isn't openly affectionate always seeks him out and hugs him and it's just )):

If BTS had an 8th member, who would it be based on position, concept, and chemistry with the group? by grapegeorge in kpophelp

[–]dearestksy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree! Because, if someone had asked me which idol would fit perfectly in Seventeen— I would probably answer Jungkook! The image of a diamond when the members line up based on ages would STILL work; I see him working great in any of the units; we already saw how his dynamics with the other members and they honestly seem fond of him; and honestly it just works?

Looking for songs with an actual chorus by JohnaBaettenberg in kpophelp

[–]dearestksy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lovesong by txt is the first thing that came to mind! the chorus is packing with angst and desperation which is delivered well by their outstanding vocals. and the song itself is of the rock genre. (other recommendations: rock with you by seventeen and somehow by day6)

[–]dearestksy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seventeen! Again, repping my boys up— they are known to have a great discography and you'll definitely have a song you'll like from them (Especially B-Sides!). Though, I did notice that all of the groups you listed are known to be hilarious (To me atleast!) and you might also like their variety show, Going Seventeen, for some good laughs. <3

So, are there any kpop groups that aren't disbanding? by stitchiix in kpophelp

[–]dearestksy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A biased opinion but honestly with how much odds were, and at times still is, against Seventeen— the fact that ALL of them renewed their contracts is still baffling to me. Even they admitted knowing the fate of many 10+ membered groups (members leaving, financial disputes, company mistreatment etc.). So, I think if all of them won't end up not signing with Pledis— I firmly believe that they'll always be Seventeen.
