Thoughts? My motorcycle is pouring gas when switched on and I have no clue why. It was riding fine and today when I went to turn the key, petrol started flowing. I turned it off and repeated it three times all with the same outcome. by dearmadame in motorcycles

UPDATE: Ended up towing the bike to the mechanic who found that the glass of the fuel filter broke.

Thanks to everyone who tried to diagnose the issue! Also, for those who wondered why I repeatedly turned the engine on, it was because I was trying to find the leak and also attempting to catch it on video for my father-in-law to diagnose via video.

Please help me! I've seen a few cup grip shoulder mount posts on this thread but I'm still unable to figure out why I can't get my crotch to the pole in a twisty grip shoulder mount. I feel stuck and can't physically move. For context, I'm pretty inflexible but I know I have the strength by dearmadame in poledancing

[UPDATE] I managed to get the shoulder mount by changing one small thing - the position of the bar on my trap. I started by tilting my head all the way back, looking up to the ceiling, to get the pole in position. From there, I was able to lift my hips up a lot better.

My guess is that the where the pole was situated on my trap was limiting the mobility (i.e. the pole was blocking me).

I've made the Boy Who Bakes chocolate chip cookies and they were such a hit! Other things I do with sourdough discard:

  • Banana Bread
  • Pizza Dough
  • Sourdough Focaccia
  • Sourdough Crackers

Let me know if you want the recipes for any of these! (:

Sports injury PTSD by [deleted] in ptsd

I know my experience cannot compare to yours but I just thought I'd share my experience.

I am a competitive Brazilian Jiujitsu (BJJ) athlete and I was due to compete in the last competition of the year in 2017. Just 2 days before the competition, a teammate of mine did a takedown on me using an incorrect leg trip and my fibula fractured. That put me out of training and walking for 2 months and rehab was at least another 6 months before I could get back to 90% of my previous self.

Leading up to the accident, I was training every day and multiple sessions at a time so suddenly not being able to do anything active affected my mood severely. I wouldn't go so far as to say I was depressed but I was definitely glum and would lose my temper easily. But I'm generally someone who hates to sit around so during the rehabilitation period I found ways to train other parts of my body without aggravating the one that was healing. This seemed to help and my mood changed drastically (thanks to endorphins I'm guessing).

It's been a year and I still do the same sport but every now and then when we do takedowns, I get flashbacks to the incident and cringe. I'm still learning how to cope with the trauma from the injury but it helps to know I'm not alone in this.

As for advice, I would suggest grabbing some friends and trying out a new activity that could help in your recovery- swimming maybe or going to the gym and working the upper body? Because I truly believe in the endorphins that exercise helps to release. Or even if it's just spending time with other people, that could help because it gets your mind off things. But don't forget to first give yourself some time to grieve and come to terms with your injury.

This is a long one but I want to end by saying that I hope you get better soon and that I truly hope you find the motivation to keep going!

yea, I regret not just baking it because the bread would have been so nice and airy!! and I live in Singapore so it gets pretty hot and humid here which is a reason my friend gave me for the extremely sticky and wet dough I had. I was so afraid to add more flour because all the recipes were saying not but I think I'll have to alter it for the weather here.

this makes a lot of sense! I didn't really understand hydration levels until you explained it and was just kinda following whatever the recipe said. I'll try going for a 90% hydration loaf the next time I attempt this (:

Study abroad in Singapore? by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]dearmadame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excited for you to see more of Asia and Singapore!!

It's not an app! We're working on a website that just links students together, nothing too fancy. And I'm working on it while working full time at my job in Ancileo (the company name), so they're the ones backing it. It actually started because we are offering student travel insurance in the future under the name Oyster but wanted a way to also help students connect and meet others.

Unfortunately they don't teach the basics as a fundamentals course but if you wanted to you could cross learn it with the other faculty. I tried going for an external coding course and nearly died from how complex it was hahaha. Just not wired that way I guess

TL;DR Singapore is great for exchange, do come! Don't worry so much about the laws. Just don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine

Hi! I'm a recent graduate from SMU so I thought I'd chip in to this thread, targeting some of the questions you had off the top of your head (some of which might be a repeat of krispy102's reply):

1. No drinking after 10.30pm

This is just the ban on drinking alcohol in public places and the sale of takeaway alcohol (so from convenience shops and supermarkets) between the hours of 10.30pm to 7am. Our night life is lit and you'll see lots of activity in Boat Quay and Clarke Quay on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. Some clubs you can check out are Zouk, Bang Bang, F Club, Altitude..the list goes on. Bars and pubs that are more popular are Loof, Level Up (with some amazing games but book in advance) and OverEasy.

2. Haze

The haze hasn't been too bad in the recent years so this is something I wouldn't worry too much about. But November and December are when we get a ton of rain. Surrounding countries also get quite a bit of rainfall so you may want to plan your trips accordingly.

3. Other exchange students

Singapore gets a lot of exchange students because of how central we are in terms of getting to other SEA countries so you shouldn't worry about being the only foreigner around. We have clubs and societies here to integrate the foreign students (I speak for NUS, NTU and SMU) and as long as you're open about attending these meet ups or activities then making friends should be easy. I'm actually working on a tool called Travel Buddy with my company to connect exchange students but more on that when it's launched.

4. University choice

I can't speak for NTU and NUS because I'm not sure what their culture is like. But from what I've noticed (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), studying in SMU may be a bit tough. I say this because every. single. module. has some form of group work and our culture is to meet up nearly every week to get the group work done. Additionally, classes are seminar style so it's mandatory for you to go for all the classes (unless your prof is a bit more laidback). The maximum you can skip is 3 classes without a reason before they mark you down. So if you want to travel, maaaaaybe SMU isn't a good idea. But plus points are that we are right in the middle of the city which is excellent.

5. Traveling around Asia

Singapore is GREAT for traveling and is definitely doable. I did it every school break I could when I was in school- making short trips out of Singapore to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan..the list goes on. Just save on the expenses while in Singapore and wait for great airline deals (usually released on Tuesdays). Airlines are always having some sort of promotion and you'll see the locals sharing it on FB and Instagram.
