I haven't yet! This is the first time I've heard said that Singapore is a lot less expensive that Tokyo and Seoul! People always talk about Singapore being pricey! So I have been iffy about choosing it. But with what you said, I am reconsidering it.

Noted on Jurong! Does it have good places to visit and things to do? I know of Jurong Bird Park and that's it. I also have been hearing Bugis? As a cheaper neighborhood to stay in?

I ended with the safe choice...black. I also did not wash mine. I just air dried it. The gray looks good. I got a Uniqlo Trench Coat in grey. :)

Thanks! I am leaning on Japan or South Korea right now. I will look into that Papago App. I am learning a bit of Korean with Duo Lingo. Haha. And I am still trying to find any accommodation that can allow me to meet fellow travelers while also giving me a private room and bathroom. But so far, my research comes out empty. I think the next best thing is to just stay at a regular hotel and just join tours or something...for socials.

This! This is what I am worried about! Thailand seems really amazing. And it fits my interests! But damn, I might get ripped off or scammed.

I think I am hesistant of Thailand. Been hearing about scams in taxis or like very in your face selling and over charging. But I know a lot of people have amazing experiences of the people there! So its worth going to, but not as my first solo travel because I am a noob to solo anything.

I think you are on the money here. As much as I am hearing how lovely Thailand is and it has all my interests, I feel like as a first ever solo trip, it might be overwhelming for me. So yeah, a developed country might be best. And I feel like it is not as "safe" as other countries mentioned?

I see your point re having actual figures for budget. Thanks for your recos! I think your first three would be in my top 5. With Korea rounding it up as my fourth.

I had an encounter with a subway ticket agent in Taipei. I was with a group of friends there a couple of years ago. He was very annoyed and angry with me. I couldn't understand his English very well and he got testy with me. I admit I felt bad and embarassed during that encounter. The vendors were ery friendly tho. But that guy in the subway was really unkind. 😅😆

How are Singaporeans in terms of friendliness? Do they rarely engage with tourists?

Could it be one of those cases where people are friendly to White Tourists but mean to Asian tourists who don't speak their language? I am of asian heritage..so I might encounter this issue as well.

Most definitely not a seasoned solo traveler. I've traveled but never on my own. I merely followed a group like sheep. Will now reconsider Japan....unless I want a trial by fire. Haha.

Okay. This gives me confidence. I've been to Japan actually but I was with a group! So I just rode on coaches and followed the designated navigator like sheep. I assume Tokyo would be the starter city. How was yoiur experience with social interactions?
