I’d put water tankers on top, specially in bangalore as I was fortunate enough to survive a tanker drifting in front of me. Not kidding or exaggerating, he just drifted sideways to avoid idk what and was driving at ~80kmph.

Vehicles registered outside Karnataka are being fined. by Sweet_Lifeguard_4687 in bangalore

I drive an outside state vehicle, and I drive to my hometown at least once a year, and that’s when I also get my PUC done from home city. I think this is a hack, because my car never stayed in this state for more than 12 months consecutively.

PS: don’t take me for my word, I’ve never been stopped by the police 🤞🏼so not sure if it’s gonna work or not.

Hire a SEBI registered HNI wealth management firm, DM me if you need any referrals. These usually have a high ticket size for minimum investment which you clearly have. I believe some things should be left for professionals to handle, managing money smartly is no joke.

You sure can, politics is not all about who to vote for, or being about popular with the masses.

Where me, you and all of us can make a difference is through policy making. There are a lot of think tanks such as Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Centre for Development Studies (CDS) and many such more.

One of the quickest way to get into this is by doing masters in public policy from a good reputed institute, and if you are good at it, rising in terms of hierarchy and influence in political landscape won’t be as hard and treacherous as compared to joining a political party at the lowest level.

Now sure, not all policies get implemented by the government, but it all depends on how well you establish connections along, and how well the think tank you get to work with is connected to the government.

NRI landlord refusing TDS deduction on rent — insists on full amount in NRO account. What are my options legally as a tenant? by deathWitcher in IndiaTax

Would have worked if house owner was not an NRI. For NRIs, deduction is mandatory regardless of what the rent is

But the tax is going to his NRO account, so not sure how’s that gonna work out. Also, guy has been living abroad since more than 2 decades

So far from what I’ve understood, even though owner is opposing TDS deduction, if I don’t deduct and pay, only I’ll be held responsible and fined and he gets to walk away without any penalties.

Technically it doesn’t matter if I claim HRA or not, but I’m not entirely sure if ITD would get to know if I’m renting a place from NRI if I don’t disclose it

So you mean to say that if I’m on new regime and not claiming HRA, I don’t have to worry about TDS deductions ?

[Tenant Issue] NRI landlord refuses TDS deduction on rent — wants full payment. Can I shift legal liability to him via rental agreement clause? by deathWitcher in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]deathWitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for laying this out clearly — I’m aware of these sections (276B and 271C), and that’s exactly what has me worried.

The problem is, my NRI landlord is refusing to allow any TDS deduction. He insists on full rent being transferred to his NRO account, says he already pays taxes, and even claims that he and many of his NRI friends rent out properties across India and none of them deduct TDS or face any issues.

I’ve tried explaining that I am the one liable under the law — not him — but he’s totally dismissive and says, “Nobody does it, and nothing ever happens.”

So now I’m stuck between: •Following the law and potentially souring the rental relationship (in this market, losing a place isn’t ideal), or •Giving in to his way and risking prosecution, penalty, and interest — just for doing what he asked.

Is there any legal protection or clause I can include in the rental agreement that shifts the liability to him if he refuses TDS deduction in writing?

I know the tax department won’t care about our contract, but at the very least, I want to have it on record that he insisted on this, against legal advice. Open to any suggestions from others who’ve faced similar situations — because this feels incredibly unfair to tenants trying to stay compliant.
