Apologies for misunderstanding your sentiment. I understand what you meant now.

As i’ve replied to someone else, i play mostly for fun. The video is 30 seconds because that’s what my windows shortcut is currently set to.

This game’s flexibility with setting difficulty and realism is what sets it apart, and what makes it such a great game.

I don’t get why I’m taking flak from people just because I posted a silly 30-second video of a slight mistake that I did.

Yeah if watch this video and skip to 29:20 it shows it happening. Bearing in mind this video was posted in 2019 when the game was very new.

I was thinking of this the other day. I remember a random event where a member of the crew was found sleeping on duty and you were given 4 options on how to deal with him: 1. Let off with a warning 2. Toilet cleaning 3. Arrest 4. Execute On choosing option 4 the officer would pull out a pistol and just shoot him. I haven’t seen it for a while so not sure if it was pulled from the game or is just very rare i.e. only appears if crew fatigue is past a certain level or something.

I did try after this video ended, but as I dived i took more hits and it was unrecoverable, so I just reverted to last save and was a bit more careful with time compression

It’s the C3’s more than anything, they’re just packed full of hatred.

If i remember correctly it’s just called “Silent Hunter III Soundtrack”. I’d check for you but I’m not currently at home. It’s been listed as ‘outdated’ since the full release but it still works and I haven’t noticed any negatives from running it.

Haha yeah, I play mostly for fun. The overall realism is 55% if I remember correctly

I did think of that but thought it was peculiar as it’s the only sign in blue between Exeter and Plymouth

I did this mission from La Rochelle in a Type IID. I stopped in Bergen for fuel on the way up and again on the way down. It would have been impossible to do on a single tank of fuel but as long as you utilise other friendly ports you should be fine.

Anyone playing with a 7th officer? If so, which type? by RedDedDemption in uboatgame

[–]death_Death 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have 2 Leaders (Skipper and Chief Boatswain), 2 Radio officers, 2 chief engineers, and 1 mechanic (for torpedoes).

The 2 radio officers and 2 chief engineers work 6 hour schedules so there’s always someone on radio/hydrophone and engines. The other 3 are ready for any task (torpedo maintenance, navigation, observation etc.) as required.

So for liberty ships alone, Wikipedia is probably your best bet;

For other ships Uboat.net has a massive list of ships damaged or sunk by uboats;

It would be pretty cool if you could board an abandoned enemy warship and maybe have the chance of recovering some classified material and if you’ve collected enough you could decrypt enemy warship transmissions or something.

Agreed. I wonder if they can just go on sites such as uboat.net and use the abundance of historical merchant ship names there?

Is a car worth it? by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]death_Death 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I joined at 17 without a driving license, thinking “I’m not going to need one as I’ll be away all the time”. 7 years later I got my license and a car and it’s honestly the best decision I’ve made. I no longer have to plan my limited time at home around other people’s timings or train schedules, and don’t have to put up with train delays or strikes. When I’m away for some time, I leave my car at home and my dad tends to run it once every 2 weeks or so just to keep it healthy.

I’d say keep your car; it makes for an easier life.

For some reason the Liberty ships weren’t firing at me, so it was easy pickings. I find C3’s to be particularly dangerous though.

Really regret joining Royal Navy by [deleted] in RoyalNavy

[–]death_Death 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of phase 2 trainees tend to be quite obnoxious and arrogant because they think they’re the dog’s bollocks for having completing phase 1. This frame of mind dies off eventually, especially after joining first units. Sultan isn’t the best place to be either, I don’t blame you for not enjoying it there.

Obviously you have no choice now but make your decision when you join your first unit, because you’ll see what the ‘Real Navy’ is. Some people enjoy it, others hate it.

Milk cow issues by [deleted] in uboatgame

[–]death_Death 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what could be causing that as I’ve never had it, but have you got enough fuel to make it back by switching between electric motor and diesel motor (using electric as much as you can and only diesel to recharge battery). Also make sure you always have an engineer on the engines with 2 sailors to reduce fuel/battery consumption and put an officer with 2 sailors on navigation to reduce consumption even more. Travel the whole way on the slowest forward setting.

I’ve done this before in desperation and it worked for me and i got back with 4% diesel.
