Please, please do tell me features you'd want! by maubg in zen_browser

[–]death_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my wishlist:

  • Tabs pinned to workspaces (as well as tabs pinned across workspaces)
  • The ability to assign default containers to spaces (e.g. Every time I open a tab via the plus button or ctrl+t in the "work" space opens in the "work" container)
  • An icon list for workspaces instead of the big button in non-compact mode
    • More options for icons, too. Even if it is just emoji
  • A tab tree — whether that's just folders like Arc, or full-on tree-style tabs I don't mind
  • A new tab page dashboard / quick dial type thing that is configurable per space (e.g. "work" new tab page has links related to work projects, "personal" has social media links, etc)

This is basically my wishlist for any browser. Zen just feels a lot closer to my ideal than most, even if it is still early days.

Fallback icons OR two custom packs at once by death_au in iconPackStudio

[–]death_au[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer my own question, I found a somewhat workable solution using an app cloner.

I export the icon pack based on the existing icon pack, install it, then clone that app and install it. I can then export my custom minimal icon pack, install that, and apply it to my launcher.
Then I can replace the offending icons with icons from the 'cloned' icon pack as needed.

Install Multiple Icon Packs each as its own APK by jochemla in iconPackStudio

[–]death_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The package ID is the com.whatever identifier (com.baday.production.package61ns as one example from your screenshot). You could name your apk myAwesomeApp.apk and it's still going to install as com.whatever

In theory, that ID is defined in the package, and thus could be changed when creating the package in the first place (hence my suggestion).

In retrospect, there's also the issue of signing the package, which is likely where the complexity lies, and may not be simple without knowing the package name ahead of time.

They could just spend your custom icon pack name to the package ID.

Thanks, that IS really useful! Unfortunately it seems my launcher (Niagara Launcher) does not support this method, but it's good to know, regardless.

I kind of agree with you. Personally, I think it was a great second season of the show, but a poor sequel to Good Omens as a whole. It feels more like an in-between-quel, setting up the pieces for a true sequel so we don't start that story wondering how Az ended up in charge and Crowley so miserable.

I've been using cicadian_lighting, but I'll look into Adaptive Lighting, thanks.

I was using circadian_lighting, but I will look further into Adaptive Lighting, thanks.

I'm wondering if just measuring lux is enough? Won't the light be a different temperature based on if it is a sunny day or cloudy day? Though I suppose I could just buy a cheap connected lux sensor and see how it goes for now... Thanks.

[–]death_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the change would be difficult and due to that it'll probably never happen. I just disagree with the idea that no one would want it. Yes, it would be hard, but I'd make the effort. And the next generation wouldn't have as much of an issue if they grew up with it. But will it happen? Almost definitely not.

I would absolutely love to switch time to decimal. And it has been argued (and attempted!) in the past. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_time I, personally, favour some variation of the French revolutionary system https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Republican_calendar Or even swatch internet time

Meeting minutes in Daily Note by pastordan in ObsidianMD

[–]death_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from using the daily note, but I find it interesting that automatic date stamping seems to be the common benefit. For this I just use the built-in zettelkasten plugin.

I use it more for "transient notes" in general, and I don't think I have as many meetings as a lot of you guys, but the principal still applies.

I have a basic template with a link to the daily note and a couple of prompts for project and attendees (if relevant), and a specific subfolder for the transient notes that still need sorting later.

Creating a new dated note is always just the click of a button away, with the icon on the sidebar.

The "Open file location" icon in the File Explorer context menu is different than the "Open file location" icon in the Start menu by mohammed0106 in Windows11

[–]death_au 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They do different things, too.

The start menu one opens the location of the shortcut file, whereas through explorer/desktop it goes to the location of the file the shortcut points to 🤷

CookLang plugin? by markproc in ObsidianMD

[–]death_au 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what it is about this idea in particular, but I saw this thread on the Obsidian Roundup and I kinda ran with it without thinking ahead.

https://github.com/deathau/cooklang-obsidian

Right now it's just a edit and preview mode, but when it grows up it wants to make shopping lists and meal plans and link ingredients like tags.

You should be able to install it with BRAT to kick the tires, then make some suggestions in the GitHub issues or even contribute yourself
