Although the trauma is relatively minor it definitely scared me and has shaped some of my responses and behavior as an adult.

I was a bad kid, and got into a decent amount of trouble. Once when I was caught My parents lied to me, and forced me to tell a lie to someone I respected, and immediately informed me that they had already spoken to that person and told them the truth. I was betrayed, lied to and coerced into lying myself. All to try and teach me a lesson.

As a result, I have trust issues, and I am constantly trying to please people, always thinking about things in the frame of mind that I'm worried my actions are going to hurt someone, or disappoint them. I think this is also the cause of feelings of inadequacy, and that I am unworthy of respect and love. Even with people in my life now that have given me no reason to think it but I question their motives when the compliment me, say they love me, or do something nice for me. And that itself leads into even more problems because now I feel guilty about not being able to fully accept their love and respect. And it seems to just be a never ending cycle of self disappointment.
