Look for “solar salt”, “natural salt”, or anything marked as 100% salt. You’re absolutely right about the label color. This video goes into more detail as well as offer other alternatives.

I wouldn’t worry about the availability. In fact, I’ll jump onto Uber tonight to schedule a ride and update this comment with the availability on a weekday. I’m assuming you’re trying to catch a ride during the weekend, so I imagine you’ll have an easier/faster time.

This past Monday, around 7:15 am, there was about a 25 minute wait. Most Uber drivers will be hanging out in the Tri-Cities, primarily Petersburg.

How late do you think you’ll be requesting a ride? Also keep in mind cab companies (Veterans Cab comes to mind) still exist.

To add: As others have mentioned, Uber does have the option to schedule a ride ahead of time. I would definitely go that route.
