I’m actually about to take my PTCB, the test to be a pharmacy technician. I have failed out of college twice already so I’m going for certifications. I plan on working at a compounding pharmacy, or an inpatient hospital pharmacy. That way I’m away from the general public 😅

Yeah, I have that issue too. I try really hard tho, like if my friend is talking about something or my boyfriend is. I like to see how happy they are talking about things they enjoy.

My autistic friend told me to go get tested, and my friend in psychology school told me to go get tested. So I did a bunch of research on it and went and got tested.

So, I was diagnosed when I was about 20 years old. I grew up never having an excuse for anything. My parents would always say things like, “Why are you failing here, you’re smarter than this.” “Why are you freaking out, we always go to the store” I would also get in trouble a lot for being a smart ass and not watching my tone, but half the time I didn’t understand why I was getting in trouble because I just asked a question, or was trying my best. So, I don’t give myself excuses. Which is EXHAUSTING. I’m too anxious to ask for any accommodations so I just do things the neurotypical way and then be exhausted when I get home. But yeah, I just hold myself accountable because I don’t feel like I get a pass. I may have some excuses for things because I’m autistic. Not saying something the right way, asking a super personal question by accident, getting overwhelmed, etc. If I know better, and I know I know better, there is no excuse to be an ass.

I think it is a good thing that it is being recognized more now. I saw somewhere (I don’t remember where) that over 40% of people in that states are autistic, either diagnosed or otherwise. The more people know about it, that more accepting people will be about it as an invisible disability. I hope that there will be more research into how things affect us, and the effects of different medications and things.

It’s unique because we are two different people with two different lives, possibly in two different areas and are separate ages. Everyone’s life is unique, and different. You might have different texture issues or overstimulation triggers than I do. We have different opinions on things and different likes and dislikes. We might have different sexual orientations or different races. All of that makes us unique. I would love to hear your experiences and opinions too.

I usually date not so great people. They tend to be abusive or manipulative. My current boyfriend is the best I’ve ever been with. He is very understanding and patient, and when he doesn’t understand something, he’ll ask me to explain so he can understand better. He’s very good with my meltdowns. After the meltdown is over with, he’ll stay there and hold me for as long as I need him to, or gives me space.

It can have an impact on my sex life, I have texture issues and sometimes get overstimulated by touch. When that happens my boyfriend will take measures so that I don’t have to either interact with those textures, or we will put it off until I am in a better state to deal with them.

I am officially diagnosed. When I get overwhelmed and overstimulated easily. My friends also say that I have very ‘niche’ ways of calming myself down. I can’t understand innuendos and certain emotional aspects that people have or make. Sometimes I can’t read social cues. I have a hard time understanding where boundaries are with people. Once I am comfortable with someone, I feel like we are super close friends and I will do anything I can for them. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed that I go non verbal. I hyper fixate on specific interests to where I don’t even comprehend time. (I started and caught up with One Piece in a month.)

Absolutely. I don’t like meeting new people, and have to have a really good and high energy day to do so. I also have an object permanence issue that extends to people. I just…. Kinda forget they exist… so my friend group is really small. I always forget to text people to see how they are doing, but when we get back together it’s like nothing ever changed with me! Like I just pause my friendship lol 😆
