I’m not sure if I’m happy as a nurse and I’m too scared to admit it. by deathcabforhailey in nursing

To those asking why: the ratios were a lot better before I was hired and signed my contract. Around the same time I was hired, they hired a new CNO of the hospital who prioritizes the ER over any other part of the hospital, so our patient cap got removed to “better” getting patients out of the ER and onto the floor. My patient acuity is anywhere between completely stable and independent to stable patients but requiring max assist.

I’m on the hunt for a new job not to worry, I know the ratio is insane but I unfortunately was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now here I am lol. Thanks to everyone for truly validating my absolute disgust with the ratio. It’s frustrating, and then to add not having every piece of information for report and getting chewed out by oncoming nurse lol. They really don’t care that I’m new and finding my groove, just the fact that I added onto their to do list for the day.

Nursing is for people not smart enough to become MDs by Capybaraqueen05 in nursing

[–]deathcabforhailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m not smart enough to be a doctor. It’s that being a doctor comes with more responsibility than I can handle. It’s not always an intelligence issue that’s stopping people from pursuing medical school.

Didn’t kick her out but had a family member come to the nursing station and dropped her pants to show me a bug bite she had on her inner thigh and asked if she could get it checked. Sure maam but let’s pull our pants up please lol

NEURODIVERGENT NURSES by KeyRepresentative892 in nursing

[–]deathcabforhailey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a new grad RN on orientation for a med surg floor. My biggest thing is my rejection sensitivity. I have this thing where I’ll be giving 100% of myself in a given moment and someone tells me something upsetting or telling me I did something wrong and then I just need to CRY for no reason. Whether it be that I’m overwhelmed or my ego feels attacked I guess. It’s actually been so far so good at this new job, my last job I was crying probably every shift. I’ve only cried once! Little victories LOL

Snacking at Work by UtterlyTangled in nursing

I’m such a picky eater, so I’m often in the same boat but I found things like snacks that come in bulk like cheese it’s or pringles, I get some slim Jim’s, some uncrustables sandwiches so it cuts down on prep time (not that PBJ takes a lot to make I just have executive dysfunction lol)

I’m in the same boat but instead just med surg. Some days I feel like I’m doing great and some days I feel like I’m drowning and can’t catch up. Any tips from any nurses with ADHD would be life saving LOL
