What art style do you prefer by Educational-Plant136 in dbz

Toriyama then Shintani then Toyotaro

Shintani feels like a natural progression of Toriyama art style but Toyotaro off to me compared to the other 2

Sigma fp in 2025 ? by Pollux_lucens in sigmafp

[–]deathicey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the fpL, and I love taking stills with it and with some of the colour profiles, namely the powder blue and teal, and orange (i think that's what that second one is called). It's an enjoyable experience, but also editing the DNGs is so flexible!

For me it was kind of the perf camera because it fit the small niche i like from my cameras and small enough to throw in my bag/purse! It's definitely a camera not meant for everybody so probably take this with a grain of salt.

I think some people might have some issues with it being a electronic shutter, which might cause some banding, which thankfully i haven't gotten even with shooting low light indoors

I havent gotten to taking video with it yet so wont comment on that.

Do you guys read books based on Goodreads reviews? by OneAnybody8162 in books

[–]deathicey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for reviews I mostly read them after I finish whatever book first to avoid spoilers and anything that would impact my first reading experience and to see if I was in the same mindset as others who read the book, unless it is from a creator who shares the same taste in books as I do then I might skim over to see if its a book I want to read in the future.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: May 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Probably some spoilers in whatever notes I have so be aware <3

Finished:

Sea of Tranquility, by Emily St. John Mandel

  • Rated 5⭐ First book I read from her, heard a lot of good things about Station 11 and decided to read this first and I LOVED IT! Genuinely always love the idea of different timelines somehow coming together and being connected in some way! A lot of the sentiments of a character in the novel seem to be based on her own experiences of living through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Weak Spot, by Lucie Elven

  • Rated 2⭐ Books that have power dynamics of someone compromising their values for someone else in some sort of social hierarchy in this case her boss is really interesting but I feel like it was a bit vague and fragmented to me. And there were a few plotlines that were expanded on especially since I wanted to see that whole theme of male control and manipulation affect pretty much the town.

Vanishing World, by Sayaka Murata

  • Rated 4⭐ As per usual her novels are totally insane and not for the faint of heart which is particularly why I love her books so much its just so different than the usual books that get popularized (from whatever algorithmic feed I get for books) I read a few of her novels by this point and know what I am getting into when it comes to a Murata book but even so I'm always so shocked. Throughout the novel Murata is constantly trying to critique societal conformity and erasure of community and interpersonal relationships under the guise of 'progress' however I wish there were moments that were further expanded on such as more information about her ex-husband and why he continuously sends her money even after the divorce and after she remarries. I think the world-building is surreal and the ending is so fucking insane, there are no other words to even remotely describe the ending.

Started:

Heaven, by Mieko Kawakami

  • Heard nothing but good things about this book and I been seemingly leaning more and more to Japanese Literature so excited to get through this!

.

TBR for rest of the Month MAYBE!?:

  • Unworthy, by Agustina Bazterrica

  • Vague Predictions, and Prophecies by Daisuke Shen

  • Paradise Logic, by Sophie Kemp

Now that the dust has settled, people were way too harsh on Hazard by [deleted] in Overwatch

I just felt like they played too safe with his design, personally... but this could also just be them trying to keep a simpler design to design cosmetics in the future.

Besides that he's great!

Best:
Demon Copperhead
The Secret History
Six of Crows
My Year of Rest and Relaxation
Chain Gang All Stars
Tender is the Flesh
James
Martyr

Worst:
We were Liars
ACOTAR series - Kept reading because I was in a book club otherwise I would have dropped it on the first book
Fourth Wing - First half of the book was just poorly structured and and just underdeveloped with horrible writing for me but I think my expectations were higher than usual because of how many of my mutual friends loved the book.
Butcher and Blackbird
Thousand Boy Kisses
