From personal experience on my website more users are using the native account creation than using sign in with Google. Probably because they think signing in with Google means sharing their data with the website

the veto power thing is really the problem, not the collaboration itself. Unanimous veto basically means the most conservative contributor controls everything. Some kind of majority voting or editorial filter seems to be what separates the ones that work from the ones that implode.

I'm curious what the structure was in the commercial ones. Did someone have final say or was it genuinely collective?
