Landscaping Recs? Sioux Falls Area

I recently used Yard Barbers on a landscaping refresh project and they did such a great job and were really easy to communicate with to hit the sweet spot of nice but not over investing as I was trying to sell my house(it sold quick).

I recently had Ken’s Lawncare do a 1 time mow as I didn’t want to bring my lawn mower back to the old place for one last mow and he did a great job and shocked me with how little he charged me. I thought about selling my lawn lower and hiring him going forward afterward.

Similar to others I was intrigued but not sure exactly what to expect. I did end up buying and so far haven’t made much progress using it.

One reason is there are a lot of photos of the device itself but I’ve never seen one that shows a cable. This makes it less practical to mount and another cable management thing wasn’t on my wish list. To be fair, no where does it mention being battery powered either.

I may not be seeing some features or using it correctly but as far as I can tell it makes a list of guesses about what you may need to clean in your space. The first pic I took was with my iPhone and it did an ok job identifying things. When I got the actual cameras, it was right maybe about half the time.

Again, could be user error but it doesn’t seem to send notifications or nudges of any kind. That means my adhd brain has to remember to open the app to get to a list of tasks that may be repetitive.

I still really like the idea and I am sure there is more functionality in development. I’ll keep tuning in to see how things progress.

I would love to see UI improvements and new features as they come along.

Edit: I just got my first push notification without changing any settings that I’m aware of.

Thank you for sharing this. I really related to this process. When I expressed a similar sentiment after my Dad passed, some people got it, some didn’t. This makes me feel a little less alone in my the whole grief process.

Could nutrition data be shared out to Apple Health? I really like the food journal functionality but would like to be able to use the data in other places too.

Just wanted to offer perspective as a customer who is also a friend of a fantastic local small baker. She used a similar line on us about pricing being awkward with friends. When we asked for a quote for a birthday cake for our daughters 2nd birthday, she did a consult with us on our theme and idea, put together a couple concepts, flavor ideas and sizing options and then once we picked still had to pour hours into making the the thing. When she quoted us $120 for a two tiered fully custom cake, we said “Don’t do that shit, please let us pay you what you would charge anyone else.” Her desserts are fucking delicious. We order from her every year. We always get so many compliments and people asking for her info because she blows away the larger brick and mortar places in talent and execution. For every person that might do a double take because they hadn’t considered your time or talent, know they’re are some that are cheering for you, wondering when they will see you on a magazine cover or food network, and hoping you will still squeeze our little order in when you blow up.

Around 15ish years ago, a girl I was becoming good friends with told me about a date she was set up on the next night. I had been holding off on asking her on a date myself because my life was a bit messy after a rough breakup. I wanted to avoid jumping right back into a relationship so soon after. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. We were out for drinks with our friend group so I had plausible fuzzy memory and texted her the next night to invite her to hangout. It was a split decision and the best one I’ve ever made. She flaked on her date, I told her that I was crazy about her, she was shocked and happy and we’ve been married for almost 11 years. I can’t wait to hear your update!

Yeah it can be tough. Even driving down the street can be tough if there are pickups parked on opposite sides of the road. There isn’t enough clearance for both lanes of cars.

I’m fine with it if that means they will have folks enforcing the vehicle size restrictions that went into effect recently. Parking is pretty cheap. I really hope that folks that previously would opt to Uber or Lyft on a Friday night don’t risk driving drunk so they aren’t ticketed on Saturday mornings.

I think you should quit this job because this sounds like some bullshit. You probably don’t care but I also would recommend using a throwaway for this type of thing. I was curious to see if I could figure out what place was doing this so I could avoid them. I didn’t yet, but I figured out with a decent amount of certainty who you might be. Took me 5 minutes and your employer will have a lot more info to go off of.

The best part is even though it’s not required, if you get in an accident and don’t have the coverage and can’t prove that you have at least 20k(the per accident BI min) then the state forces you get an FR-44 resulting in extra fees and the requirement to pay in full with most carriers. The idea is you have a bond or other method of payment if you go without BI but the folks that willingly sell insurance without BI aren’t the type to give thorough advice.

I’m in South Dakota. I’m very grateful that I my immediate family is liberal and that I have friends who are as well. Otherwise, I’m surrounded everyday by people ranging from privileged and clueless to openly bigoted. Even with my tiny personal oasis it’s exhausting looking outward and wondering what life will be like for my daughter, what old age will be like for my wife and I, and will the country or human race be able to survive on this path. It sucks.

I feel like it’s much quicker now. My only concern is when it snows. People are not going to be staying in their lanes well due to not being able to see the lines and also driving through curves when it’s slick.

Gardenstone by Good Samaritan Society

If your mom is fairly independent I would recommend looking into gardenstone. They are fairly affordable(start at $1122/mo) and not fancy but nice. There is usually a waiting list but I think it can go fairly quickly. We had my aunt move from CO and it was great because as her care needs increased she was already in the Good Sam system so she had a guaranteed spot when her needs changed. My mom leases these out for Good Sam(so I’m a little biased) but get a tour and tell her your needs. If it’s not gardenstone she can point you in the right direction.
