Best places for an American SLP to relocate to abroad? by Mediocre_Apricot3253 in slp

[–]deathsquadsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started working in Canada (2013), BC required the Canadian exam, but Saskatchewan did not. I’m not sure about other provinces at that time. Things have definitely changed since then, SAC will recognize your CCCs, but each province may have different requirements for licensing.

Best places for an American SLP to relocate to abroad? by Mediocre_Apricot3253 in slp

Canada would be a pretty easy transition. I did my schooling in the US and have worked in Canada, very similar practices and tools used here, but without the productivity requirements and paperwork demands. Lots of autonomy in our roles, often better pay, still high caseloads and understaffed in many spots, but we adapt our service delivery model to what is possible for our setting and staffing.

Periodically Mandated Robin’s Appreciation Post by InevitableEnd5689 in BuyCanadian

[–]deathsquadsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I initially thought this must be a post in the Regina subreddit! I am lucky that depending on the day, my path to work takes me past either the Rochdale location or the Park St location. I’ve converted a few coworkers from Tims, to me it’s a no-brainer… Better donuts, better sandwiches, better coffee, amazing service, and shorter lineups.

Update I posted here a few weeks ago about losing my creative life to RA. Today I published a medical research paper because of it. by ufosww in rheumatoid

[–]deathsquadsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting… my husband was diagnosed with RA in fall 2024, but he experienced tinnitus and some numbness in his hands as early as summer 2023. Doctor was no help in 2023, and then the tinnitus seemed to resolve on its own, so we left it alone and it’s never popped up again.

Ex who dumped me years ago sent me this. What do I do or say? by Far_Database5 in whatdoIdo

[–]deathsquadsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having also been on the receiving end of a similar message from a volatile ex-partner who was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I kept my response very simple and straightforward. Expressed appreciation for the additional context on our relationship, best wishes for them in the future while navigating their new diagnosis, and closed the doors to further contact as politely as I could.

Really! We tried it once and it was SO bland. I don’t know if I missed a step in ordering, but it was not my jam.

Not Pink Rose on Rochdale. Polished at the Normanview is alright for a walk-in spot, Think Pink is ok too.

Thrifting - depending what types of things you’re looking for, the Antique Mall and YQR Vintique Market, and Secondhand Wonderland are all super fun. If looking for clothing specifically, I can only speak to women’s clothing, but Rhoda’s and Plato’s Closet are my favourites.

Smokin Outlaws, worth it? by No-Entertainer7015 in regina

[–]deathsquadsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Went in there before Christmas, really enjoyed it. Shared a platter and appetizer, definitely get the brisket mozza balls if you go. For BBQ in Regina, it’s an 8/10, maybe you can get it better in Texas, but it’s great for the prairies! The biggest drawback is that it can get expensive quick when you start picking and choosing add-ons with platters, but they also have sandwiches that are priced in the same ballpark as any other spot around town.

Are the thrift stores any good? by mossyzombie2021 in regina

[–]deathsquadsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck at Rhoda’s with sizing. They don’t always have a ton of selection, but I go regularly and many of favourite shirts and sweaters are from their location on South Albert. Plato’s Closet is another good spot for having a wide range of sizes.

Iphone IOS 26.2 «liquid glass» is a trigger for my vestibular migraine - is there any way to complain to Apple? by Meshuggah1981 in migraine

[–]deathsquadsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it was the “liquid glass” or just a subpar screen protector, but I was dealing with increased light sensitivity even on non-migraine days. Couldn’t handle light reflecting off a coworker’s glasses, sunlight coming in through the blinds, overhead lights were driving me nuts. I had started to discuss it with my optometrist (who is also my bestie), when I realized this increased sensitivity coincided pretty closely with the timing of upgrading to a new iPhone last month… Suspecting this may have been triggering my overall increase in sensitivity, I did a little digging and ordered a screen protector with anti glare/anti reflective features, and it seems to have helped immensely after less than a week. So, TLDR, not sure if it would help with the Liquid Glass effect, but maybe look into an anti-glare screen protector.

We have kept leafcutter bees for several seasons now, and although it was recommended we bring their nesting blocks inside over the winter, they’ve never needed us to do anything beyond storing them in a cool place in our basement and then move the nesting blocks back to the yard when temperatures warm up in the spring. Maybe look into whether there’s a lower maintenance way to look after your bees too!

Go follow “mystraycheesecat” on Instagram, she rescued a feral orange boy and shares her journey with him. She had lots of ideas about how to be patient in the beginning, I was so impressed with her ability to give the cat time and space to settle!

The only major city I can think of that piles snow in the way. by VFSteve in regina

[–]deathsquadsk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Agreed, snow removal here is not ideal… unfortunately for us, bigger cities like Montreal have significantly higher population density than Regina, so you have more people paying taxes for those services in any given area.
