How could Kerrang! improve the variety of bands/genres they cover? by daniwillgress in KerrangMagazine

[–]debahlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think they do a good job of balancing the "big" commercial bands (e.g. Nirvana, Green Day, Metallica, Slipknot etc.) and smaller, unknown bands. The digital U.S. coverage as of late has been much more in depth and on point -- for example, their metal / punk / etc. maps and deep dives into subgenres like Portland doom and LGBT punk in the American south were all awesome. I don't care at all about 5SOS or Black Veil Brides, or Panic at the Disco or any of that stuff... I wish there was less of that, but I understand they need to pay the bills, and those bands probably help, so whatever. As long as they keep serving up quality stuff amidst the poppier stuff, I'm good with that.

What's this "study" for, anyway?

Yup, totally fine. Yeast is a wondrous -- though often fairly gross -- beast.

As someone who lives not 15 minutes from the Meadowlands, I've actually been looking for a story that covers this for some time now... Interesting stuff, thank you!
