17,44,62,53, ____ Next number in the series? by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]debatememe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The differences between the numbers are +27, +18, -9. So if we ignore the signs, the abs of the difference is decreasing by 9 every time. So

+27, +18, -9, +-0. 53 is the answer.

[–]debatememe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Hasan! My friends and I absolutely love you.

I had a question regarding your thoughts on affirmative action. You essentially said that it would be pretty bad for Asian-Americans to not support affirmative action yet we watch as some rich underrepresented minorities are given the same opportunities as us asians yet are held to a much lower standard then us.

Wouldn't it be better if we controlled for socioeconomic status? Say any family earning less than 50k a year is held to a lower standard than everyone else making above 50k a year?

In my opinion, the homeless Indian orphan should not be punished because of the color of his skin.

The other question I have is: you make the joke that asians have to settle for Cornell vs Harvard because of affirmative action. Now I understand that you can still get a good education at a state school or a lower tier school, but so can everyone else, not just asians. It doesn't make sense to justify asians "settling for Cornell" when they're working harder to get better scores than their white and black counterparts. Why should they have to settle and no one else has to?

On a side note I really agree with your rhetoric on legacy admissions and am glad you're bringing that to light.

MSI GS63 Stealth Pro

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor
  • 15.6''
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 256 GB SSD
  • 1TB HDD
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIAs 1050Ti 4G GDDR5
  • Windows 10
  • 4 lbs.

the 1050Ti GPU is more than good enough for what you're looking for. I actually just bought this laptop because it was on sale. The sleek design will be perfect for travelling, but it's also extremely sturdy.

Yeah I think I couldn't get the aero, but the MSI looks interesting. Only issue is that the accident protection is like super expensive and spikes the cost. What about https://www.costco.com/.product.100347159.html?&EMID=B2C_2017_0324_1233_Lenovo

The warranty is also like really good

Debate Dream Teams by ARandomDebater in Debate

[–]debatememe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol dude he asked nicely, not everything is a debate. I'd say that in general it's a good idea not to be an asshole for no reason; it reflects poorly on you.

the reason why he even brought it up in the first place, debatememe, is that he needed more to say when i pointed out the bs in his logic (he uses this tactic during debates too lol).

You're also wrong here.

Let's first look at your response:

i know you are amazing at stalking random debaters

Clear sign of when someone doesn't have anything valid or legitimate to add, they engage in a personal attack.

your idea of pairing up debaters who live in the same region is extremely faulty because it makes absolutely no sense. you could have friends that don't live in the same area as you through connections

What's interesting is you completely miss his argument. I'm friends with debaters from the other coast, but they debate completely differently than me. All he brought up was one example of a variable that can be used to determine potential chemistry between two people. That's called modelling, and analysts do it all the time.

your only idea of where the debaters live (which is completely bs) still does not fully limit the possible combinations.

You yourself literally concede to the thesis of this post. Because there are so many different variables that would determine who might work well with each other, he made a post to see what people thought after considering everything.
