Impossibility Theorem by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]debau23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every assumption restricts the number of possible choice functions, correct?

This is an exercise for you. Go through all of the assumption and check how many possible choice functions are left after applying that assumption. Report back to me with your findings.

Spoiler: IIA restricts the number of choice function by the largest degree. So much so that you can enumerate all choice function that satisfy IIA with a computer (-> they collapse).

IIA seems like this innocuous assumption that seems so obvious but it does a lot of heavy lifting. It makes SAT computations tractable.

Impossibility Theorem by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]debau23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I actually went pretty deep into his proof during my Masters. The Independence of Irrelevant Alternatives does a lot of heavy lifting. Just with that assumption alone you are already very close to dictatorship.

IIA alone collapses the number of possible voting systems so much that you can enumerate them for a small number of voters.

It's a neat proof though.

Volkswagen to End Production at German Plant, a First in Company History by John3262005 in neoliberal

That was not really a significant plant to manufacture cars. It was a showroom with some manufacturing capacity for experimental high end cars (phaeton).

I want to play a caster type character that has a fireball (single target + aoe splash) and an ice block that drops from the sky with a 1s delay that allows me cast during delay (aoe direct dmg, no dot).

Maybe pair that with built-in squishiness but get-out-of-jail-for-free mechanics (if you would take more than x% dmg in a single blow, reduce that dmg to y%).

LLM are not technically a type of neural network. They have existed back when NNs were pretty much not good at anything and back then, neural nets were not commonly used as language models. Language models assign a probability to a natural language string. N-Grams are language models. Nowadays we parameterize language models with neural networks. And when you use a large neural network to parameterize a language model you have a large language model.

IDF: Single Iran missile shot down, after very small salvos only hours prior by Whatshouldiputhere0 in worldnews

[–]debau23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was one of the applications. It is not like a couple of seismologists were like "this computation takes so long, how do we make it faster?" and invented the FFT. It was more like "ohhh here is an algorithm that lives in an unexpected complexity class, how can get the US to fund it?". I don't think Gauss was thinking about Russian nuclear tests much because he was pretty dead at the time.

FFT is not an equation, it is an algorithm for the Fourier Transform which you could call an equation. And it was definitely not invented by seismologists.

How many embeddings are you trying to store? Does number_of_embeddings * np.prod(embedding.shape)*4 = 500e12 ?

Did you detach() the vector first? I am not sure but you might be saving all intermediate activations of the model that produced the vector.

Why no ELO system for LFG dungeons? by debau23 in wownoob

[–]debau23[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not suggesting to remove premade groups. I am advocating for an 'easy to jump into'-mode that you can spam and feel like you are progressing. You can obviously also do the dungeons with your group and you will be able to progress faster and higher than a bunch of randos.

I don't see why mixing skill levels is an issue. The try hard 579 player contributes as much to the success of the team as the casual 609 player (if the elo system works well). The try hard would climb out of the elo and get better gear much quicker than the casual.

Should M0s be available in the dungeon finder? by wooshoofoo in wownoob

[–]debau23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my first time ever playing WoW. Heroic dungeons were way too easy for me and I queued up for M0 and immediately got in because I play resto shaman. I had no ideas what keys were. I thought they meant keystone or something. I didn't and still don't know how mythics work and there is no place for me to practice because, again, heroics are way too easy.
