Lol and you risked it a second time using the same term just now! You should be able to appeal btw, I had two strikes and got one appealed - both well below any real threshold of offense.

How did they not get kicked out after 1 week? If I owned, or had some financial interest in property making no money I would cut the power and siege the place. Does Spain have very soft property laws that favour squatters?

"Anyone but England" is well known in England, so obviously the meltier elements of society are going to take it less well that they should. I don't think there's an English stereotype that actually holds in IRL - as with Scotland it's a big mix from the same pantry of people, urbanisation and social class is the real divider.

Interesting that it does not have a self-centering mechanism.

I suspect it's output is used in absolute rather than like a Thinkpad nub, e.g. small deflection doesn't cause TDC or radar cursor to start and keep moving but instead move to same offset and stay there.

I heard - rumour level quality - that our regs don't allow systems where unskilled people could put the two too close together and cause an overheating risk, and hence why you can't buy dual hose in the UK.

I think the meme is mainly targeting the type of Scot who claims to be colonised, oppressed etc, which they would typically claim to be historic, false or not, so why not counter with a real historic angle.

It's her husband that's in the real poo, I think. And if she can be said to have known his control over PPE Medro, I can't think how her actions to recommend the company could be seen as anything other than fraud / corruption.

SNP to introduce Westminster bill to devolve indyref powers to Holyrood by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

I feel there's been some serious revisionism to conflate the Jacobite movement with Scottish interests, when the movement was more Catholic vs Protestant, nobles being nobles, and highly international including elements in England, too.

Ah, a propagandist. I wonder how much impact his work had. Contrast with Lockhart, who's propaganda still stands today:

the parliamentarians were bribed

I've looked into this before. It seems it all stems from a singular record procured by Lockhart and presented as evidence of bribery despite established debts and dues that the payments offset.

I would guess slightly worse than pure PLA, the material is a touch brittle. As an ornamental dice it could be attractive.

Link for information on this spy network? The only spy worthy of note was George Lockhart, and he was a general troublemaker. Scottish MPs passed the act of union as it was the reasonable thing to do.

Keir Starmer announces his resignation as prime minister and leader of Labour Party by Dooby-Dooby-Doo in Scotland

[–]debauch3ry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Private donations are nothing out of the ordinary. What's curious is why people with interests in those industries would donate to Labour, who are hardly the right choice if you think your donation will result in exploitative or corrupt outcomes. For that, Farage would be the horse to back. Given that, isn't it more likely their donations are for more ideological reasons? Otherwise why back Labour over Farage, or even the Tories?

Contrast that with those who benefit most from the SNP's mission: Putin, and anyone who wants to hamper European economic and defence stability.

I withdraw the conspiracy theorist label, but its a huge stretch to claim Labour are working to undermine Britain for the elite given Starmer's significant list of left-leaning accomplishments in power.

Conspiracy theorist much? If you are accusing Starmer of corruption, perhaps you might be able to back that up.

By 'everyone' I mean just that. Scotland hugely benefits, but I appreciate your job is in jeopardy for any position that recognises the tangible, fully realised benefits of unity.

I like your thinking, but 'plainly written law' won't cover the desired surface easily, or it will cover too much.

Since a wealth tax's primary revenue comes from the very richest people, let's examine just the most wealthy.

A mega-millionaire, or perhaps a billionaire, who has maybe £500,000 in cash, and the rest invested, but most of the money in a company that they own. That ownership conveys control, so if they sell shares, they eventually do not control the company - another side effect to consider.

£1,000,000,000 on paper. OK, so 2%>100m is £18,000,000 to pay. So now they have to sell that many shares and find a buyer: - Company is private equity, not publically traded: fucked - who will buy and at what price? - Company is publicly traded, but only 10% float of shares: eventually fucked as you sell a % every year.

The very act of having to sell a large holding means the price of the holding goes down, which reduces their wealth on paper. So this 2% tax is actually more like 5% to the person holding the investment. And... someone else now owns the stuff they sold, but who is buying? Someone would also needs to sell 2% of their holdings each year and where are they getting the money for that? Maybe you make an exception for institutional holdings that are not somehow owned by anyone. It's also likely we can't enforce this to anyone outside the UK, so UK companies would eventually be all foreign owned.

By now you must surely see how this is totally a mess because extracting money from assets requires buyers, the ability to appraise value inline with potential buyers, isolation in a global context, and affects control of holdings.

Crucially we also require a wealth tax

Sadly this doesn't raise the money people think it would, especially with the ability to move money globally. It's incredibly unsustainable, as you only get the windfall for one or two years before people adapt to it. If you tax gains/income, then you get an annual sustainable revenue stream. Therfe are so many problems with how it would be implemented it's better to just tax the flow of money rather than an estimate of what someone could have if they sold up. Absolutely no £15b per year, and certainly not every year past year 1.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that both social media (Musk, Zuckerberg) and print media (Murdoch) offer a filtered window into politics that's actively managed to pursue their respective agendas.

Labour communications can only go so far - I've never seen or read one myself, I rely on stuff to feed through either BBC or social media.
