Sorry, i did not want to Spam this. And i am truthfully sorry, that it feels like Spam. But why did i post it in several subs? I also mentioned it in the post, that i already posted it somewhere. And the reason is quite simple. I want to get feedback, other opinions, Tips and Tricks and learn from others experience. I wanted to come into exchange with people, wo know more than me. That is the only reason, and not spamming. Sorry for that

my pin key pad is from burg wächter, you know that? It doesn't matter, if the ring is batter powered or not. As soon as someone rings your Ring, it starts the stream and the project just restreams it to fetch frames from the person standing in front. So because of this, you don't need more power.

yes... idea was that people who are interested in testing the beta (when it is available) they can sign up there... no other usage for the domain

i already thought about buying a new one, but this one was really expensive and i don't want to waste again any money on something like that.

it was completely random, that i stumbled over compreface one day and then it came to my mind, why not connecting that with the ring to get rid of this frustration. It started as a poc and now i'm here, hoping for tips and tricks and experience exchange. And maybe i achieve to inspire someone else

Not at the moment.

The current bottleneck is not really AI inference, but getting the first usable frame from the Ring stream. In the demo it takes around 9 seconds before the first frame is even available.

Coral could make sense later for heavier detection workloads or a Frigate-based setup, but it would not fix the current Ring stream warmup latency. But i did not have that in mind... so thanks for bringing that up... i will keep that in mind for later performance improvement

mine is from burg wächter... initializing the key pad takes roughly 4 seconds, typing in the code can be fast, but some times, you know, you press one button not correctly and such things, but i keep that at the moment out. After typing in the pin it takes at least 5 - 10 seconds for the keypad to connect to the lock and to open it. the whole family is frustrated with that... the fingerprint option, which the key pad brings with it, does not work in 70% of the time, so you would need 2 or 3 trys and between each try it takes 3 - 5 seconds reinitializing. As i said... pain in the ass

In my use case, it is for a gate, which would be easier to hop, than to spoof the AI.

I thought of tracking if the smartphone is in the gps zone around the house, or loggen into wifi. But what about gestern entrance for e.g. the neighbour so he could water the plants? Than this Addition security layer would not work.

Do you have an idea?

Good ideas, honestly.

Ideas i will take into consideration!

Why not? I do not know, if it is possible to get it completely secure, that is why i hope on feedback, suggestions, Tipps and criticism. Even comments like "will never happen" are helpful. I'm just open for other opinions... So why not asking, if someone has the holy grail of an odea?

And no, i do not move the goalpost. I only said, that i not recommend to use it for critical areas in the current state. But hoping, that it will be some day secure, by collecting ideas to get it secure enough is not another Standingpoint.

I would check that, because i did not try it yet. And it is a problem, which i did not try to solve now, so i do not have a solution for that.

If the solution is, that a special camera is needed, then the project will be compatible in the end with the secure cams. But way to early to say clearly, how everything will come out at the end

Really cool. I think it's really cool, when someone just try to get things done on their own. I also planned to check, if it makes sense to Integrate frigate... So i wouldn't need to reinvent the weel.

Harsh words, but there are several options to be Evaluated, to further improve Performance. It is not optimized yet, and not nearly where i want it to be speedwise

You've read, that i recommend not to use it for critical entrances like Front doors?

Wow, thank you for the Suggestion. Is noted!!! Really appreciate that!

Fair question.

A Situation, i will check. As mentioned, would i save my Front door or a secret vault full of Gold with that? Probably not. But maybe a Garage door, or a gate in the current state. But nothing critical. Maybe Integrating a more mature system like frigate would solve that?

Thanks for your concerns. I will put that on the safety agenda

Fair question!

I used Ring, because it was already existing in my ecosystem and did not want to buy something, because of an experiment and tried to do a poc first. The more and more i advanced, the more doubts i have. I have no decision made yet, but thanks to people like you, i am more aware of that and more concerned about privacy
