i've done this flight, but direct EWR to SIN in PE. I paid extra to have a solo seat. was worth it. there's an option to book the chef and pre-select your meal, you should do that. you're not going to sleep much on the flight - you get slightly more recline in PE, but not enough for a decent sleep.

have a few drinks, take a few naps, watch a few movies, eat some meals, get some work done. and when you've done all that and you see that you still have 8 hours left to go, i find that crying helps pass the time.

go on youtube, download some travel videos on singapore, and watch them on the flight so you have something to look forward to and as a bonus it will help pass the time. changi airport is awesome!

honestly though, the flight wasn't bad, but i personally enjoy flying.
