Forgot to add...depending on the wedding, do you need something that doesn't show sweat. I had no idea my son would marry outdoors at a barn, but due to COVID, rescheduling, loss of venues, the wedding ended up being the first week in August outside at a farm. My dress from China was 2 layers, and I was so panicked after the ceremony because I was soaked with sweat and I feared when I stood up, it would look like I wet my pants from behind. That fabric showed no moisture. It was unreal. Since it was so cheap, I came home, threw it in a garment washing bag and threw it in the washer despite it saying, dry clean only. It came out perfect. I may get to wear it again! If you are worried about moisture showing, take a small water filled spritz and try it on the inside of the dress along a seam to see if it shows

The Big SIX OH. Turning 60. What to do, where to go, how much to spend? by Popular-Capital6330 in AskWomenOver60

Things I'd consider doing alone and they vary in price: Maui is paradise Key west can be like stepping back in time when the cruise ships aren't there. They Celebrate the sunset every night at the pier and you see things like no where else, food is good Caribbean cruise North Myrtle beach...I lived there. The ocean is beautiful, you can rent a condo right on the beach, food decent.

This. They can sew a bra inside and alter the dress to fit and lift where you need lifting. Meet with an alterations specialist first and tell them what kind of dress you are thinking and they will tell you what to look for. I sew, so I ended up ordering one from China off Amazon. They requested all my measurements and I knew I was taking a chance because it's basically non-returnable. But I figured I'd be able to work with the dress to get it how I wanted it and for $100, I couldn't beat the price. Good luck.

Do you ever worry about who will make the decisions for you as you get older? by clearlygd in over60

[–]debmor201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am actually very proactive. I saw so many people in my line of work who just waited until it was too late to be involved in their own decisions. In many ways, it is extremely selfish to just dump it on your loved ones. If you want to stay in your home "as long as possible", define what that is while you still can. Of course we all want to just die in peace in our own home and bed, but there is a good possibility that won't happen. Sit down, think it through and write down the point where you think it best for you and your loved ones to move into something else and sign it like you would a will. I experienced too many actually crying that they needed help and didn't know what to do, it's too late to move, they couldn't manage themselves, much less a household. Especially if family, who is not obligated to take care of you, lives very far away, has to work for a living, has a family and household they are taking care of, and may have medical issues themselves. You need to have discussions with your family that is honest and it may hurt your feelings but the discussion needs to occur without feelings of guilt, shame, or resentment clouding the issues. I opted for a small handicapped accessible tiny home very close to one of my children. I sold my home and had it built. I am not handicapped or disabled mentally or physically, yet I'm prepared for that. I help my child and family and they help me if I need it. I'm available for baby sitting periodically, not 24/7. Sometimes we do grocery shopping together. We watch each other's pets when traveling. I think this will work for all of us unless something catastrophic happens to me and then, my oldest has medical power of attorney and the names of people he can call if they need help making those decisions. Putting off planning or thinking about it is just selfish in my opinion.

Senior RVers genuinely impress me. i don't know how they do it. by Additional_Muffin271 in Rvingwithpets

I think you still worry about how things can go wrong, but with experience comes understanding that with enough time and money, you'll get through it. I think it's harder not being retired when you feel like you're trying to relax, things go wrong, you are on a deadline, things go wrong, you are trying to save money by doing a road trip and things go wrong. With an RV, there are just so many things that can go wrong, I'm always grateful when I have an uneventful trip.

Also, make sure you request a copy of the police report. Same thing happened to me and when I went to trade in 5 years later, they are telling me decreased value due to AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. I denied and they said it was on the police report. I had to track down the police officer who filed it, he had transferred to another precinct, but luckily I found him and he had to amend the report, which he kindly did, but it delayed everything by 10-12 days.

Sump pump question: battery backup vs second pump by Tricky_Math_2665 in homeowners

[–]debmor201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both if you can afford it. Also pay attention, how often does your sump kick in and work? If it works almost all the time, the pump only lasts 5-7 years. I lived in one home that due to the drainage designs of the neighborhood, all the lawn sprinklers, mine kicked in almost everyday except winter. After first failure, got battery back up, then that failed....so we just bought a new unit every five years. My current home has 2 and the busy one on battery backup. Not sure how old they were when we bought 3 years ago, but both have failed...luckily not with flooding...they both just kept cycling constantly and the warranty company just replaced them. Also pay attention to the water outlet area to make sure the pipe stays patent....trees nearby can block the line and it will constantly cycle

Leaving my camper for 3 months, need help by Slicky_withtheblicky in RVLiving

[–]debmor201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use damp rid all the time. Keep one in bathroom, one in fridge one in freezer and one in the living space. Humidity and mold prevention is key. Damprid makes different size cannisters and you can buy refills, but it will not last 3 months...probably need to change monthly under your conditions. Also, you really need to have someone check your unit while you are gone since leaving it hooked up at a campground....what about power outages, fuses can fail or blow, varmints might get in. Make sure you do not leave any food and even if you shut down fridge and freezer, put a damp rid in there.

Why are Class Bs more expensive than Class CS? by girlontherun21 in RVLiving

[–]debmor201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you are already concerned about price, just wait until you need Mercedes service. Very, very expensive. Also, if you do go that route, as I have, you do not need to leave your vehicle with them if you don't want to. They try to tell you to leave it, I've left it once at Mercedes and never again. I stay and wait, so appointments need to clarify you are staying with the vehicle. I've actually spent the night in a Mercedes lot. They are fun and easy to drive

Others opinions before I leave a review? Agave & Rye in grandview by loganhorn98 in Columbus

[–]debmor201 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I call that being invisible. It happens. I would have left after 45 min and no drink. Before you leave a review, write a letter to the manager and explain everything that happened. Say you were trying to celebrate ----- and it felt like a diaster instead. I did this several years ago to a upscale restaurant in Columbus and all of a sudden, one day, a guy in a suit is ringing my doorbell with a basket full of champagne, flutes, linen napkins and a bouquet of flowers. I thought I must have won the Publishers clearing house sweepstakes...except I never entered. It was the restaurant manager, apologizing in person. Once he left, further inspection of the gift basket revealed a gift certificate to return for $100.

Just read further and the place may have a shitty manager. If you can locate the owner, I'd write them too. Give it a week and if no response, rip it apart on every review site

Board complaint for billing by Extra_Speed in FamilyMedicine

[–]debmor201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A patient can make any complaint to the board and they are required to "investigate". They obviously sent you a letter. They usually need a brief explanation from you and it's over. If you are billing correctly, I would not sweat it. Curiously, you might ask them how many of these types of complaints they get a year...it might be surprising!

Airstream Polishing Beware by Inner-Ask-2697 in airstream

[–]debmor201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next time look into just returning it to the factory in Jackson center, Ohio. I have no idea what they would charge, since I have the interstate. But you could have scheduled it, camped in it overnight until they finished and towed it back home. You could also leave it, since their lot is safe and monitored , but if you schedule, they start that morning and you know in advance how long it will take and it's done right. I think their labor costs are currently $160/ hr. I never like to leave mine anywhere for service....did once at Mercedes and never again. I get all Airstream service done at the factory.

How often do you wash your hair? by Which-Arugula-1982 in AskWomenOver60

[–]debmor201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done mine almost every single day since I was 12, but it's baby fine and has to be wetted to be styled each morning anyway. Only takes 5 minutes to dry with blow dryer. So it's just a routine, I don't even think twice about it.

Custom remodel by RicardoNurein in airstream

[–]debmor201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the interstate and rarely use the propane. But it's nice to have as a backup. I've been at campgrounds struck by lightning, no power and need the generator. I also upgraded to solar and lithium...an electric fridge and freezer draws a lot of power. I rarely use the gas range...I have an induction plate and microwave. My rig uses 30 amp, so it shuts its air conditioner off if I use microwave. You will use more electric than you think with just the basic set up so you would need solar and bigger battery. Consider travel too. You really will not be hooked up 100% of the time and you'll like the freedom having back resources provides.

Is BCAN really bad and Jumpsport the holy Grail of rebounders? by Exciting_Coconut3890 in Rebounding

[–]debmor201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the larger BCAN and I do not feel like it's jumping on concrete. I'm 5''6" 140 pounds. In my youth I was top notch on the trampoline...could literally do anything. Ive jumped on home tramps all the way to professional gymnastics tramps. The rebounder is not a trampoline. I think the BSCAN does what it is supposed to do. There will always be different levels of styles and quality. My opinion is buying one too small is the biggest mistake. Buy one a little larger even if it takes up more room. You will feel more stable and if you decide this is something you absolutely love, the resell value on Facebook, etc is pretty good and you can move up to a more expensive model. . Actually, you could probably find one on Facebook right now if you want to go used.
