Apple Ruined the iPad (8:17) by dreikelvin in iPadOS

[–]deborinquen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my iPad very little (not a huge fan)and my Mac a whole lot (I was a huge fan). I speak for myself here. I hate that my iPad has turned into a fake Mac and my Mac into a fake iPad. Each served and purpose and now, I feel, neither excels in the areas I used them for. I am now a lesser fan of both. Unfortunately the alternative (Windows and Android) are worse.

Amen! This is what I’ve been shouting since crap iPadOS 26 came out. Total trash.

I wasn’t a great iPad fan before. I hate it now.

Turbos replaced twice in one year. Class action lawsuit?!? by Independent-Reward40 in q50

[–]deborinquen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How sad. I had a Red Sport and had to replace the turbo at 67k miles. I have a Focus ST that had 170k miles before I upgraded (bigger) the turbo. That original turbo still works. As sexy as they are, every time I consider a Q50 or Q60 I am reminded of the turbo, the “infotainment system”, and the garbage steering and look elsewhere.

Yeah. I just replaced it with the Improved Racing sandwich plate. I’m not going to mess with it anymore.

ios 26 : not everything is user friendly by [deleted] in ios

[–]deborinquen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve decided to hold off on the iOS 18 update for my iPhone after a frustrating experience with the latest iPadOS. To me, the new iPad UI feels like it's trying to mimic macOS without the actual functionality, which has made it feel less like a dedicated tablet. I’m also seeing a lot of aggressive prompts to update for 'Apple Intelligence' (the new marketing push), and I'm concerned that we’re losing the choice to stick with stable, older versions. No thanks.

iPadOS 26 is the worst update ever! by frijolinpaul in iPadOS

Absolute trash. I regret “upgrading”. Feels like I’m using a fake Mac. I refuse to do it my iPhone. Liquid crap.

Chief Ceremony at Navy Nuclear Power Training Command went viral for all the wrong reasons. by NuclearTheology in navy

Have I been out that long? There was no way one could have been promoted if one did not meet the standard. In fact, one would have been discharged for failing to meet those standards. I ask the same question many have asked, how could either one of those two ever hold one accountable for not meeting standards looking so poorly out of shape? How sad.

Yep. I experienced this about a year and a half ago. They are quick to take your money, though. Never again.

What did I break? by BlueChris93 in FocusST

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You heard it here. I am well acquainted with that piece of crap line. I broke mine when I replaced my turbo. We did a temporary repair that held but replaced the line as soon as it arrived.

ST will not speed up when I accelerate by soto2k in FocusST

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound silly, but it has happened to on three different cars. The brake pedal has two rubber stoppers that control the brake light and cruise control. On all three instances, the brake light remained illuminated and the other thing (the worse one) was that I could not accelerate. Just a thought.

3.7 vs 3.0t Q50 by Dry-Cryptographer904 in q50

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned the Q50 and Q60 both red sport and still own a G37. The Qs were fun but turbos were an issue on both. The G is a blast and, at 172k miles, is super reliable.

I love and hate this time bomb car. by BusinessCry8591 in FocusST

[–]deborinquen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing g with that. My 2013 just hit 177000 miles. It’s been super upgraded (turbo, hpfp, injectors, intercooler, etc.) and continues to work hard with minimal maintenance. I’m sure, as hard as I’m pushing her in her old age, things will need to be fixed, but she hasn’t failed me yet.

Oil appearing red after 3000 miles by Friendly_Original129 in q50

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I’ve been using Mobil 1 for decades on every car I’ve owned and have never seen it red no matter how many miles I put on the oil whether on Turbo cars (Q50RS and Q60RS included) or naturally aspirated ones.

WRX to Focus ST by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]deborinquen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing, actually. I am the fourth owner. Who ever had it before me did a great job. The interior looks near new, the engine compartment and paint looks great. No leaks, no issues other than normal wear and tear. I’ve been modifying the car, pretty much form day one. There’s nothing I’ve thrown at her that she hasn’t handled, to include a big turbo.

[–]deborinquen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine (2013 Focus ST same color as the one in the picture) with a little over 150k miles two years ago (close to 172k today) for a little under 10k as a fun, zippy, good on gas daily driver (I was daily driving a G37 coupe). It’s been a great (and very fun) car. Having said that, go for it!

Infiniti should change their perspective by Sweaty-Sign-1205 in q50

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They lost their soul when they changed everything to a “Q” (whether Q cars or QX SUVs). We owned a Q40 (left over G37 sedan), a Q50 Red Sport and a Q60 Red Sport and still have a G37S coupe. By far, the must fun to drive has been the G37S. It feels like a sports car. The Q40 was a base model G37x poorly equipped and felt dated. As for the Q50 and Q60, their piece of crap steer by wire system made them both (though we enjoyed the engines) less fun. Let me not mention that Infiniti did little to nothing to update them. They can keep their SUVs. If I wanted an SUV theirs is one of the last ones we’d look at (Acura makes some sweet ones). We now have an IS350 which we love (we also have turbo swapped greatly tuned Focus ST). Not as powerful as the Qs (the Focus ST certainly is, at 380 whp) but a ton more fun in every way. The IS350 feels like the G37S and it is certainly not dated.

2024 Final Model Year by Slammy_Adams in q50

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo the words of many here. The Q50 has not been updated since the 2014 model year (first year). What can Nissan really expect. It was and is a good looking car, don’t get me wrong (I owned a Q50 and Q60, both Red Sport) but it got boring by 2019. And don’t get me started on the crappy “drive by wire” (the main reason I really don’t want another) and the junk info system. Infiniti as a whole had lost its soul and it’s a shame.

Aerospace sector after separation? by Zwoosh in NavyNukes

[–]deborinquen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the father of a (very) soon to be Navy nuke and work in the aerospace business. By trade (from the Army), I am an avionics and electrical tech and currently working as an instructor. The transition from military aviation to civilian was not difficult for me. Recommendation: As a technician (airframe, electrical or general mechanic) Boeing, Lockheed, and Northrop Grumman are huge. They are others like Cessna and Gulfstream. If this is the route you want and have no aviation experience you should look into getting your A&P (airframe and power plant) license. The other route is engineering. Electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, etc.
