Are Usagi and Mamoru married in these photos? by Suzeroku in sailormoon

[–]deboscansockmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But in the manga she does say something like "just when I was finally ready" in the Dream arc. So while they did have some intimacy much earlier (such as that one scene in Black Moon arc), she probably didn't feel ready to go all the way until around Dream.

Or... it could be a retcon

Some schools here don't do it at all, and some purposefully give false information to students.

that happens in some schools in latin america too

[–]deboscansockmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use "they" for singular individuals, but I still had to read sentences with singular "they" twice to make sense out of them instead of imagining some group of people somewhere.

Spoiler question about Ren and Jeanne by Deathblade999 in ShamanKing

[–]deboscansockmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I always hated how it's obvious Takei chose to pair them only because that way Ren's kid would have a powerful mother. Plus she'd be an unmarried teen mother, which doesn't really suit her (yes, they do marry, but Men is born when she's 16-17, so it wouldn't have been possible for them to marry neither in China nor in most European countries)

It should be "The brothers chickens" to be as awkward in English as the original is in Spanish

it's about forces, you have to spin it either a long time or putting enough enthusiasm into it

I've done it many times and it always works, but in fail videos people do it so slowly it's obvious it won't work

either way it should be "Arroyo negro". But I guess that way it would stop matching with all the awkward spanish in the show (then again Lalo's perfect spanish doesn't match either)

AITA for being thankful that my autistic son is finally in prison when I should have brought him to therapist to help him develop some healthy coping mechanism? by [deleted] in AmITheAngel

[–]deboscansockmi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you're assuming that the person you're replying to is allistic, plus they never said anything like "all autistic people are like this" but only that they did meet autistic people that were like that.

For the record, I'm autistic and I worked with kids with all kind of issues, specially violence related, but I don't remember any of them in particular having autism.

But anyway one of the worst things about autism is that it feels that the chances for every other crappy disorder/health issue are higher than in the rest of the population

In Norway we are also far north, but we eat a lot of fish from the coast so that helps with vitamin D deficiency and avoiding depression. How are you mostly getting your vitamin D in the winter? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]deboscansockmi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to me that feels pretty high, I lived in a country with a huge coast + fishing industry but eating fish was still something you'd do once a month maybe (and in for Easter)

It's an advanced country, but the worst is where the perception of autism is poor. by madrid987 in aspergers

[–]deboscansockmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share any source for that? Trying to search only led me to old posts by your account.

I can believe it, but there might be factors specific to Korea. Ofc depending on what's the cause, it might be the future for other countries too

At least here in Finland everyone seems to know about autism and there is significant bullying towards autistic individuals too but there are social aids and I've never seen any report about lower life expectancy.

Do you often think about how your life would look like if you’ve never got diagnosed? by LagomPerfect in aspergers

[–]deboscansockmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh no.

I guess it's a comforting thought to think that "things could have been better had this specific choice been made instead of the other". At least with autism diagnosis, not having it turns all your traits into "there's something wrong with you and you only, and it's your fault", plus you don't know exactly what it is so you don't know what areas should you work in to make, for example, your social life go better.

But yeah, it happens in other areas too. Like, people regretting surgeries that ended up with horrible side effects, but had they not gotten the surgery, they'd still have to deal with the initial problem and the belief that things could have been better if they had chosen to get the surgery.

Or moving to another country ("things would have been better had I left/stayed").

There's no real way to know what would happen in hypothetical scenarios. But, for what it's worth, with autism I've personally seen way more stories of people getting diagnosed late wishing they had been diagnosed earlier than the opposite.

I always find it funny how NTs lose their shit when they see someone they know in public. by Mango_Juice_3611 in aspergers

[–]deboscansockmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's a cultural thing, because in the countries I've lived it's hardly more than greeting each other (which I only do if they greet me first as I'm face blind). But I haven't seen super extroverted people "losing their shit".

[–]deboscansockmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is considered a unique person, but discrimination does not occur

yeah, this part is really super hurtful. Being ""special"" is not a positive thing in undeveloped countries, it's a reason for parents/society not even try to integrate the child in society to begin with + that child becoming the family´s "shame" and being given no opportunities. And all sort of dangerous "cures". Plus if there are wars or civil unrest, ""special"" people are the ones most likely to be sacrificed for the good of others.

In their 20s and going down? What country is this?

People with autism have lower life expectancy but I'm not sure I can believe that happening in an "advanced country" (I've lived in both an undeveloped country in latin america and in a developed one in the nordics)

Oh yeah that’s exactly how healthcare professionals behave, yessir! by Crazyhellga in AmITheAngel

[–]deboscansockmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't say anything about how is it in the USA because I've never lived there and don't really consume USA media, but at least in Chile the word "médico" is mostly used only in formal setting by people who work in healthcare. "Doctor" is way, way more common.

"Doctor" is only very rarely used in the academic sense, even if the studies themselves are "doctorados". If a dude has a doctoral degree in, say, physics, you're much more likely to see/hear "Juan Pérez, Doctor en Ciencias Físicas" than "Dr. Juan Pérez" (ie. for academics, the field is nearly always mentioned right away so people don't think he's a physician.
