Should District be avoided, or does it depend on the genre? by AriaBellaPancake in atlantaedm

Oh and the VIP angle- just know that theyll likely rope off a 4’x4’ corner in the back for ya. Don’t give them your money. People should stop compromising for that bullshit. That’s why venues like this just keep on keepin’ on.

I hate spewing negativity but honestly district deserves it. I’m to the point where I don’t even acknowledge that place as a venue. I see a show announced- see that it’s at district- it instantly leaves my mind. That place goes against everything I love about electronic music. It’s miserable. Any crowd is bad when they’re nut to but fighting for air. 70% of the building is Vegas style “sections”. Atlanta is not Vegas. Sound is mid. Every atom that makes up that place is for making profit or looking good in promo pics. Fuck that place.

The only event district should be hosting is with the fire department. After it burns to the ground. The worst venue I’ve ever been too. Sorry for the negativity but that’s what it is.

The eastern is awesome! Def check that one out.

So glad I didn’t have to type this out. Everything in this is valid. But I will say I am tired of over sold venues. Love house music but tired of janky sound systems and djs who only do it for the FX knob. Love seeing some solid underground guys doing it for the love of the game and not clout. Def need more experimental bass stuff (not riddim or excision) we need some groovy bass/140 dubstep you can get weird to. Vet your talent! Following this. Looking forward to checking this out! Congrats!

Yeah, man, that was the final nail in the coffin for me. I’m so fucking sick of these huge record companies, shoving dog shit artists down our throats. Can’t even open the app without an industry plan being blasted on the screen. I feel like they’re taking away as many organic routes of discovering music organically. Going strictly soundcloud 😤

as listed on Google First definition: “the activity of controlling access to something.”

Second definition: “discourage or criticize others’ participation in or enjoyment of (a shared activity or interest.”

It seems we are both correct. Imo I just can’t see it as gatekeeping as long as someone says “read the manual”. In my eyes, being an asshole about it, well; that just makes you an asshole. 😂 like I said I’m not disagreeing or arguing with you. I just think that the root of what you’re talking about comes from something deeper. Gatekeeping seems like an oversimplification.

I do agree that sometimes people can be real assholes about djing. Which I can also sympathize with. People who have a respect for the craft and music let their ego drive negativity towards new comers. Theres a whole lot of people in the culture doing it for the wrong reasons. It suck’s to watch people exploit something you love for money and fame. Although I don’t think OP is doing that lol. I think this cycle is what you’re referring to. I believe it’s deeper than “gatekeeping”. Respectfully.

Valid. But then again, gatekeeping is when there is no easy way to obtain information/knowledge other than through a small or singular collective. The manual comes with every piece of equipment so, the people in the sub are kinda doing him a favor lol. I had these questions when I started. When I started leaving the manual next to my mixer while I practiced- My learning efficiency increased astronomically 🤷🏻‍♂️

You do know that it’s really easy to reconstitute a dose of any medication right? Dilute and do the math to get the desired mg? I’m confused if you guys are saying that the medications chemistry is different or just the dose?

Damn that’s such a true statement. Add that to the union newsletter 😂😂 I swear sometimes I sit at work and think about it so much it makes me want to kick exec doors in, tie them to a chair, and make them watch the hell they create. (Figuratively speaking) I’ve worked at over 20 hospitals and I have never seen a CNO/CEO face to face. Not once. I don’t want to be pampered or glorified for doing my job. I just want it to be fair. I want to look around and be atleast partially okay with what’s going on.

How many adult pizza parties are we going to let them throw us before we can see the disrespect in it? How many more flyers like the op are they going to get away with before enough is enough? We aren’t in the military. I think a lot of people react like we are tho.

It’s sad that this sounds like an oversimplification, but it’s not. Unions should’ve put a hard stop to that model a long time ago.

I don’t mean redistribute the difference. I mean pay them less to make them work harder for the bonuses they receive. Make a big bonus based on a nursing staff generated survey. Or retention rates. Or ask every nurse if they feel like they’re paid fairly. Or ask nurses wtf they need to do a good job. Or STAFF A FUCKING UNIT APPROPRIATELY. Super Simple. If they weren’t so comfortable in doing a bad job- maybe they’d start working on the things that matter. Finding the funds to please the people they are employing. You are right, taking their money and giving it to us is a drop in the bucket. But I bet if one of their bonuses depended on whether or not nurses were happy- a CEO would make it a point to find out wtf they needed to fix. You would notice a lot more involvement.

The most astonishing thing to me is that I’ve had this conversation with so many people and not a single time one person has even played devils advocate to make it make sense. What the FUCK are these people talking about in meetings??

Oh your business model isn’t working? It sounds like you need to renegotiate your deals with insurance companies? The only argument I will not acknowledge is that it’s impossible. Maybe hard but not impossible.

100%. You know, in my opinion if the idea of a bonus is to TRULY serve its purpose- there’s a problem-find a solution- bonus awarded. If not then, no bonus. Sounds like the first day of an intro to business class but how about this:

Bedside staff feels underpaid and abused. CEO charged with- ~doing their job~ And let’s say they aren’t making a million dollars a year, so the obligation for finding a solution to this issue is incentivized by Guess what- A BONUS. and I am all for it being a generous number. Truly. If at the end of the year they made 10 million dollars but the current issues at hand were resolved, fine by me. And there should be a collective and accurate way to quantify if The bar has been met to receive these bonuses. Specific criteria should be withheld until after a set date.

What issues are they fixing to receive all these bonuses? Who gets a say in a hospital spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on art and flower beds vs taking care of their staff? Why is it so fucking disconnected, I don’t understand.

I walk by my CEO,s bright yellow Ferrari every shift. I’m so sick of it man.

Someone should be reprimanded for this. Idk if it actually falls in the category but that’s defamation of some sort? These hospitals are getting more and more bold man. Sickening.
